Chris Mintz - UCC Shooting Survivor

He is a father, a veteran, a student, and now he's a hero.

During the shooting both of his legs were broken and he is going to have to go through a ton of physical therapy.
While Chris is not the type of person to ask for it, he is going to need all of the help he can get while he recovers!
Myself and many family members have been swamped with requests for us to setup a gofundme page, so this is us fulfilling that request and we appreciate your concerns and assistance.
Thank You,
Family of Chris Mintz
Update -
GoFundMe is requesting further information from me in this campaign for Chris's protection.
My name is Derek Bourgeois, and Chris is my cousin. We both grew up in Randleman, NC together.
The funds are going to be sent directly to Chris to assist with his recovery (medical bills, paying his bills while he out of work, childcare for his son, etc).
Roseburg-based State Representative, Dallas Heard, has also started a campaign to support the UCC Relief Fund: https://www.gofundme.com/nm5g3hug
This is their way of giving back to all victims affected by this senseless tragedy!
-----
Once again we would like to thank each of you for your continued support!
We just want to make sure that before you donate to Chris, please remember all of the other victims and consider helping them out if you can. It is what Chris would want.

Thank you again,

I hope gofundme will waive their fees so this man gets everything donated to him. He deserves every penny
Hey "Go Fund Me" lets see you donate your 8% fee to him at the end of this fund raiser for this True American Hero !!!
GOFUNDME should donate their 8% commission to Chris! He is a real hero!
Thank you for trying to save my friend.
I don't even want to know the name of the gunman that opened fire on UCC yesterday, as a matter of fact I don't even want to know what he looks like. This lunatic was looking for his 15 minutes and I for one don't plan on giving it to him. Forget the Zero and Remember the Hero! Chris you are a hero...God bless you!
I firmly believe that you should have 100% of all of your expenses paid, and your mortgage paid off. You deserve to no longer have to think about money. Thank you for all you did while in Service, and yesterday. It's heartwarming to see the total jumping up, I hope it continues. Thank you.
I would like to respectfully nominate Oregon hero Chris Mintz for the Presidential Medal of Freedom. His heroic actions went way above and beyond as he acted to protect the lives of his fellow classmates and staff of Oregon's Umpqua Community College. It will never be known how many lives he saved that day as he repeatedly threw himself in harm’s way to protect those around him. Nominations for the Presidential medal of Freedom can be made by writing the President at the White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C., 20500 Or just flood the White House face book and other social media sites God Bless Chris…oh by the way. I put a little extra in your “Get Well Fund “
I served with Chris. We got to know each other pretty well. I can understand someone's hesitancy to ensure this isn't a scam, but I can assure you that it is not. He is a great guy that now has a long, painful road ahead. As his friend, I request that anyone with comments that take away from this effort to please keep your opinions off of this site. Your Facebook friends may want to hear it, but we certainly do not!
It amazes me how much money has been raised for this selfless hero in just a few hours. May that number continue to grow so this brave man will never have to worry about medical costs and wages lost, due to his lengthy recovery ahead. This is exactly what America should be about.
Go fund me - please donate the 8% fees to this hero!
In response to the person who claims this is fake and that this person doesn't even have Chris as a friend on Facebook (like that's the final decision). I found Chris's page and sure enough, Derek Bourgeois is a friend, and his personal posts reflect their relationship. Sorry for Facebook stalking you, but I hate bad information floating around.
Best birthday gift ever, His father is alive!
This is not a fake account. It's already been vetted through the site so please take your evil jealous rants elsewhere. This man's family is doing everything in their power to help him like he did so many others. The last thing they need is some troll throwing up roadblocks because they have nothing better to do. That being said, Chris, you are awesome. It warms my heart to know that in a world full of evil people like you still exist. I wish you a speedy recovery and peace in your heart. Your selfless actions won't be forgotten. God bless you and yoour family.
I would love to search on Go fund me " UCC Shooting Survivor"
You did something many of us wish we'd be able to do in this situation and that seems rare. Thank you for your actions and thank you for your service. I'm glad you're still on the planet Chris. Lighting a candle for your recovery and for the energy you're going to need for physical and emotional healing. God speed.
Chris! To say the world needs more men like you, is a vast understatement. In a society where people tend to not want to "get involved", you surpassed every notion of bravery and put your life on the line for other people. Your son is blessed to have you as his father. Get well!
Good on you for standing up:) You make me proud of being a veteran. I hope you heal fast!
Injuries such as his could total up to $100,000. Hopefully, he has insurance, but even if he does, $10,000 will be a drop in the bucket. The family may be out of pocket $10,000-15,000 just for all the travel and expenses involved with going to physical therapy for months or being in a rehabilitation center for months. Just a FYI.
I agree that $10 is Braley going to begin to cover the costs of hospital bills, in patient rehab, OT and PT. I do understand the fear of seeming like your asking "too much" but the reality is $100K is a more realistic goal. Everyone would understand changing the goal. Every time I refresh the page it's jumping by a grand anyway, we're all here to help. I can't imagine how scared everyone was and as a mom to a 4 year old, I can't imagine the bravery it takes to put strangers lives ahead of your own. God bless you Chris, you and everyone else injured yesterday. What disgusts me is this story got a 15 second mention on our local news between the football game and the hurricane. We're becoming so immune to this bullshit it's disgusting. Something HAS to change.
You are an amazing hero!! I salute you, Sir, not only for your service to this country, but for your selfless act of saving others. You are a real man!!
