Random Act of Kindness

Donation protected
One and a half years ago, when Keely was in Kindergarten, someone offered to pay her $20 for a picture she drew. She took that money and donated it to the Norris Fun Run. After realizing she might be on to something, Keely spent a bunch of time creating several different pictures. She then hauled her Elmo table, chairs, and artwork down to the end of our street and there, she set up shop.

Turns out, nobody really wanted to spend $5 on her masterpieces.

After quite some time, the feeling of defeat set in. “Mom, nobody wants to buy my artwork.” I was ready to sneak over to the next street and give some kid money to come over and buy it.

Out of nowhere a guy on a motorcycle showed up. We didn’t know him and he didn’t know us. He totally made her day! He opened his wallet and only had $4. We told him that was more than enough. Meanwhile, I’m over here wiping away tears caused by a random act of kindness from a stranger. About 5 minutes later, he came back and with another dollar for Keely. She’s never forgotten this.

We found out that Bruce was sick after not having ever spoken to him since the day he bought her artwork. Keely has a huge heart and wanted to help. She raised almost $2000, with an initial goal of $200, just by telling her story and offering to draw pictures for the highest donations. Bruce will continue to need assistance and Keely would like to continue to help in whatever way she can. Your donation will help a little girl pay it forward in a way she never thought possible.
