Our dear friend and coworker, Chapelle, was brutally attacked with an ax/hatchet at the Yale light rail station, after work on Tuesday, January 29th, unprovoked and without any warning. Chapelle moved to Denver a few years ago, from NY, for her job. She is a single mom who works hard to provide for her family. She does not have any extended family in Denver. Chapelle is unable to work right now and is left with no transportation and ever increasing doctor and hospital bills. She will likely be unable to work for quite some time. She needs our help. Anything, no matter how small, will help!!

First and foremost I want to thank everyone for their generosity, support and prayers. I hope everyone understands how helpful and needed all of those things are. While some of you I know personally and have worked with, there are others who I have never met and for all of you I am grateful. Things have been progressing in that my head wounds are almost fully healed. Because I suffered a concussion I am still on watch for the after effects of that. My finger has healed from the surgery but the physical therapy still continues in order for me to regain feeling in parts of it as well as to eventually be able to bend it. While I am still on leave from work I have received tremendous support from the DISH family and look forward to coming back when I've recovered not only from the above mentioned injuries but - the others as well.

I really just wanted to send an update and a sincere thank you to everyone. I also want to let you know that you all have been in my thoughts and prayers and I couldn't have come this far without you.

All the best,

Chapelle Brown

UPDATE: Chappelle is so overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness of everyone who has donated or helped in some way. She had surgery on Tuesday on her hand. She is at home, resting, but in a lot of pain. She continues to get better every day, but is still in need of a lot of help. There are other ways to help:

1. Groceries. Chapelle is without transportation (public transportation was her main source of transportation prior to this accident). Getting groceries to her and her family would take a big burden off of her shoulders.

2. Rides. As she is currently without any sort of transportation, rides to doctor appointments and court would be extremely helpful.

3. Prayers. Chapelle needs a lot of prayer right now.

Below is an interview Chapelle did with 9 news. If you know this man, lets get him in touch with Chapelle!

The response and support we have gotten from everyone is truly touching!

UPDATE: Chapelle will likely be getting surgery on Tuesday, February 5th. She needs a pin and two plates placed in her hand.

James Vernon Galloway, the suspect in this crime, had a bond hearing yesterday. He was given a $50K bond, but has not been able to post. For the time being, he remains in jails.
