We were on a mini-vacation in Houston with a friend. My son, Ryder wasn't acting himself. We brought him to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston. He was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia). He also has 20+ hemorrhages on his brain, and he's anemic. He's on a ventilator and cooling pad to keep the fever down. We got to the hospital with a white blood count of 400,000 which is way too high. After the blood transfusion and 1st round of chemo it came down to 90,000! We are asking that everyone take a minute during the day to pray over our family because Ryder has a long way to go.

Ryder's results came back to show he now has 85% leukemia. The last round is believed to not work at all. The doctors found a protocol from 1990 at St. Jude's for ALL. Ryder still has AML but presents itself as ALL so we will be trying a different protocol. This will be Ryder's last round so PLEASE pray that it works. He will be getting Asparaginase, Vincristine, and Methotrexate. He's scheduled to start tonight and we should know if it's working after the first 12 hours. There's a chance he will develop Tumor Lysis which is when the leukemia cells are killed, the toxins inside the cell dumps into Ryder's blood. This cycle will go over 2 days and between the 10th and 12th day he will get another marrow.
We were told to start thinking about decisions that no parent should have to make for their child. Some of the toughest questions were brought up and it's extremely painful to think about much less experience.
Despite all that's he's been through and is still going through, he still manages to get up and put a smile on his perfect little face. Please pray that this works so Ryder can get a chance at transplant!

Test results from last week are back and show that the cancer has come back. Ryder has relapsed, and the doctors have amped up the chemo. They did catch it way in the early stages, but it still means the chemo isn't working! The only other option they have is a bone marrow transplant. It's a possibility that Ryder will get another round of chemo after this one to ensure he's in full remission. Once he's cancer free, he will be able to get a transplant. The chemo for this round is 3 times as strong as the last round which was already a high dose. Please please pray everything works and Ryder doesn't get the chemo side effects!

UPDATE: We're in a new room because they require anyone that's been in a room for 30 days move out so they can deep clean them! Our room now is a little bigger so it's much better! Ryder's ANC is at 0 right now so it's very crucial that he's not around any sickness! He's getting back to his old self with sleeping late and being happy all the time! There's really not much going on, but we're just waiting on his counts to come up so we can see the next step! Thank you everyone for the prayers and support!!

My 10 nephew carlin was diagnosed with ALL( acute lymphatic l ) April 2013 he's been on chemo and many other drugs. He also has Down Syndrome , tetralogy of fallot (4 defects in the heart) so as u can see with all the things going against him . He has withstood all the chemo, hospital visits, labs every week, pains. weakness, blood and platelet infusions, Dr. Visits every other week he's not in the hospital and all the testing and all the incidentals that come along with the cancer. He's still here and his treatments will be over in September . He's a fighter and so will be Ryder. He's on my daily prayer list. With God all things are possible he has a plan. This program will be just a hard on the family as it is on Ryder and I'll pray for you as well. Take care of yourself also, so u can take care of Ryder. It's taken a toll on my sister and I was with her most of the time. We stayed at Children's Hospital in New Orleans it's like a second home. Great Place!! Remember prayer is powerful and Gods will be done. Cathy
