Sustainable Therapeutic Gardening

My name is Terence Abram and I am currently an Occupational Therapy Assistant Student at Stanbridge University . I was recently awarded the prestigious California Campus Compact Community Engagement Student Fellowship allowing me the opportunity to collaborate with Ryan's Reach to develop a program that would benefit the residents and staff.
Ryan's Reach is a 501(c)(3) organization that seeks to aid brain-injured individuals and their families by addressing their financial, physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
Occupational Therapy focuses on the importance of engaging in meaningful activities to improve overall participation in the necessary tasks of everyday life. For
my fellowship project, my goal is to begin a sustainable rehabilitation garden for the residents of Ryan's Reach. Financially, this garden can help alleviate some of the burden spent on meal preparation for the residents. Therapeutically, this garden would allow participants to engage in a nurturing experience demonstrating their independence. A meaningful activity like gardening can serve as inspiration on their journey to recovery.
We need help raising money so that we can create a garden that is easily accessible for all the residents of Ryan's Reach despite any limitations they may have and provide a fun activity they can all participate in. The funds will go directly toward the purchase of: raised Flower Beds, Organic Soil, Herbs (like Basil & Cilantro) Vegetables (Tomatoes & Lettuce) Organic Seeds and Garden Supplies (Gloves, Pruners, Hose).
