Friends, your outpouring of support has been amazing, and helpful, and kind, and truly appreciated.
Effective April 1, 2018, this fund is closed, with a message from Ruthie and her husband Jonathan.

Here's their message:

“We wish we could personally thank each and every person in this great community. It is with respect and overwhelming gratitude that we are closing this fund— this generous display of love, compassionate words and tangible expressions of care for our family. Abigail was a great delight to everyone who knew her; no one was immune to her joy and we miss her very much. These last few weeks have been terribly painful, but we know we have a web of people to lean on who will support us and love us through it all, just as we trust God is carrying us through this pain and comforting us in our sorrow. Especially in this time of grieving, as every day brings a mysterious combination of sorrow, pain, comfort, laughter, agony, and thankfulness, we have felt the true strength of community and continue to be very grateful for your prayers. We thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts, for everything.”

The original campaign story remains below. This campaign has been far more a success than ever imagined. The campaign is now closed, and will disappear soon. Thank you to all who have made donations and sent kind words.

ORIGINAL CAMPAIGN STORY

Our dear friend Ruthie Ann Miles encountered tragedy on March 5, 2018, when a driver ran a red light in Brooklyn, striking four people, including Ruthie and her sweet four-year-old daughter, Abigail.

Ruthie, who is pregnant, is injured and in critical condition, and, very sadly, Abigail passed away.

This GoFundMe has been set up as a centralized point to accept donations. These contributions will go to Ruthie and her family.

Ruthie is beloved by her many friends and colleagues in the Broadway and touring communities. She is always kind and always has a smile. It is our honor to help her in this difficult time.

With thanks,
Jack Stephens
Company Manager

**Jonathan Blumenstein is Ruthie's husband and will be withdrawing the funds raised on her behalf.

A statement from Ben Rubinowitz, family attorney:

"As many of you know, Ruthie and Jonathan’s daughter, Abigail, was tragically killed. At the time of the crash, Ruthie was pregnant and was severely injured. This past Friday, Ruthie and Jonathan lost their baby, Sophia Rosemary Wong Blumenstein.

The pain suffered by Ruthie and Jonathan is nearly impossible to fathom. As you might imagine, they are overwhelmed by the sadness of the deaths of their children. Ruthie and Jonathan are grateful for the support of their family and friends but wish and ask that their privacy be respected during this most trying time.

Ruthie and Jonathan continue to seek God’s presence, mercy, and peace."

Ruthie, while still stable but critical, is out of the ICU and is making improvements. Her unborn child is still OK.

From the Blumenstein family:

"Thank you for your prayers over our families and holding us in our pain. We are extremely grateful for your kindness and generosity. Ruthie is now out of ICU and healing, by all accounts it is a miracle our second child is unharmed. Please continue to pray for the Lew and Blumenstein families as we process the unthinkable and lay our grief in the loving arms of Jesus. Joshua and Abigail are now resting in Heavenly peace and Joy."

Another update: Ruthie is in stable, but still critical, condition. Jonathan and Ruthie are truly stunned at, and deeply thankful for, the outpouring of financial support and well wishes.
