Hi, my name is Kitty Allen and whilst travelling around Thailand I volunteered for WFFT. It had a big impact on me as I’m a big animal lover and saw the massive positive impact the foundation has on wildlife in Thailand that are being mistreated by humans. I want to bring awareness to the fact that animal abuse is still a very present issue in our world today, with many people not realising when animals are being abused.
Many wildlife animals are killed for their babies in order to use them as tourist attractions such as killing monkeys or parrots to keep them as entertainment or pets.
Other examples of abuse towards wildlife are taking a picture with a tiger (tigers are poked with sticks for hours on end whilst being kept on chains).
Elephant trekking (elephants are forced to carry up to 6 people at a time and kept on chains).
Coconut monkeys (stolen from forests and violently trained to climb trees to harvest coconuts). These are just a few examples of the abuse WFFT encounter.
A big number of the animals that are rescued are rehabilitated and let back out into the wild but the ones who are not well enough or physically or mentally not able to will spend the rest of their lives at WFFT in appropriate, large and enriching enclosures.
Your money will go towards building a safe environment for these animals, on their healthcare and nutritional food to keep them healthy. Any donations will go directly to WFFT.
Thank you very much.
