Run for Rhys 5K Legacy Event

Donation protected
The Rhys Jones Community Centre was set up to leave a long last mark and impact in a community that will never forget an innocent little boy who was shot walking home from football training in Croxteth.
The time was felt right to organise a legacy event to mark the 10 year anniversary of when Rhys was killed and the Centre, its Directors, Board and Rhys family - Melanie & Stephen Jones felt that the legacy fun run would be a way to celebrate the short life of Rhys while also raising much needed funding to develop and continue the work of the centre in the local area.

Since the centre first opened in August 2013, it has firmly established itself as a community hub and its main focus is to raise Aspirations, Hope and strengthen Community Unity in Croxteth.

We want Rhys memory to live on in the positive and wonderful work that is being done at the Community Centre with all members of the community but especially with the work supporting children and young people within the local area.
This Fun Run we would love to become an annual event, become a great aspirational event and initiative within the Croxteth community and area.

Funding will be used to develop so much more that what we can currently offer, more youth work, play work, holiday programmes, education programmes, enterprise and employment programmes, as well as fun, recreational and health & well being work that we know is much asked for and needed in the community.

We want to be able to use any funding raised to start new workers and new programmes literally as soon as we possibly can to develop this area of work and deliver our work programmes asap.

As the CIC Director I am passionate about the Centre, Rhys Jones and his Family and the wider community who will benefit from the Centre and the positive legacy and impact the Rhys Jones Community Centre CIC will have in their area.

Myself and the other directors are inviting you all to take part in this special day - it might be 10 years from Rhys death but he will never be forgotten, his legacy and his name will live on - and will bring about positive change locally and maybe even further afield.

Thank you all for supporting and whether it be £1 or £10 it does not matter, every penny is appreciated and I can promise you that every bit of it will be used positively and constructively within the centre, the cic and the work that we will deliver now and in time to come as well.
