R.U.M.P. Fundraiser

Since 1974, Riviera United Methodist Preschool (R.U.M.P.) has been the first school experience for hundreds of South Bay children. The school was founded on, and continues to live by, the twin values of a developmentally appropriate, play-based early education and parent participation in the classroom. While those values remain central to who we are at R.U.M.P., we recognize that family structures and needs have changed dramatically in the decades since we first opened our doors.

In 2016, we find ourselves ready to evolve into a program that will remain true to our founding values, but will also meet the needs of more families in the South Bay. It is our goal to expand upon our existing program. We seek to provide the same level of nurture and care our current families value, but with the possibility of increased program options, including extended hours or days, to allow more families access to the RUMP experience for their children.

R.U.M.P. is fully self-funded by income from tuition and fundraising. In order to continue providing our current families with a high quality preschool experience, while also evolving the existing program, we are in need of financial resources above and beyond the income of tuition and small fundraisers. We are seeking to raise $12,000 to help us bridge the gap between R.U.M.P.'s incredible history and the future we envision for R.U.M.P. students for decades to come.

We know the amazing impact that R.U.M.P. has had on four decades of students and families. Please consider helping us continue to make that impact on decades of children and families to come. By supporting our fundraiser, you are honoring the legacy of our past and helping to position R.U.M.P. for a bright future.

Testimonials from Parents:

"We toured several preschools before we found R.U.M.P. We had no idea that finding a clean, play-based preschool with fun development activities was going to be a challenge, but we were pleased to find the amazing program at R.U.M.P. Great teachers, great parents, and amazing kids -- we love it!"
- Christa Fletcher

"Our kids love going to school and they love Ms. Michelle. It's a wonderful balance between play and structure for our kids."
- Dr. Sarah Severios, DPT, OCS

"My son is in his second year attending R.U.M.P. preschool. In this short two years, I have seen such an amazing growth with my son. Not only academically, but emotionally. My son has gained self confidence, learned to be a leader, he has made some incredible friends and learned what friendship is. My son is extremely fond of his teacher Ms. Michelle. She has played a crucial part of my son's early years of life. She has brought such brightness to all of the families that join the school. Year after year, her devotion to our kids has been a blessing, a special gift that's rare to find in most schools. What can my little family say... we love our little school. And our Ms. Michelle."
- Jessica Small

“R.U.M.P.’s facility is a big reason I chose this school, over many others in the South Bay. I love the large outdoor space the most. The kids have tons of time outside to let their imaginations run wild. They are having a blast whether they’re finding treasures in the sand box or playing on the fire engine!"
- Nate Hansen

"This is the first school experience for my 4-year-old and I couldn't be more pleased! She LOVES R.U.M.P. and is sad when it's not a school day! Ms. Michelle and Ms. Denielle are so patient with the children and truly love their jobs! Working in the classroom a couple days a month is fun and having the free Nursery for my 4-month-old during my parent work day is beyond helpful! We love R.U.M.P.!!!"
- Sara Cover

"I’m thrilled to have found a preschool that is truly developmental in all aspects, especially social and emotional expectations from the teachers. Ms. Michelle and Ms. Denielle come alongside the children and support them through navigating their feelings and relationships. As a co-op, the parents learn this way of interacting with children as well, and to me that is priceless."
- Lacey LaCour

"It's been a blessing to be part of my child's education and growth. R.U.M.P. allows this amazing experience and we are so grateful for that."
- Dr. Oliver Severios DPT, OCS

"I am over the moon with our experience at R.U.M.P. Our daughter is thriving in this program and this is the happiest I have ever seen her! She genuinely looks forward to each school day and can't wait to talk about what she learned, who she played with, and what art project she completed at the end of every day. She loves her teacher and her peers, as do I!
As a mother all I have ever wanted is for my daughter to be happy and to thrive. We have found that. But I never imagined that I would also find a community in which I would also thrive and grow. I look forward to school drop off to see other parents and connect with them. I'm eager to work in the classroom and see the daily workings of the classroom. I'm excited by the potentially life-long friendships that our entire family is forming with the other families in the school!
We love this close knit, creative, stimulating classroom and community!"
- Meghan Lawson

“For me, the co-op format forges a deep trust between my family and the school. When it’s my work day, I get a complete picture of how my daughter is thriving at school, and it gives her more confidence on days I drop her off.”
- Rachel Hansen

"My wife and I have two kids and we wanted to be part of a fun and enriching community of families and teachers. For us, R.U.M.P. is the best preschool in the South Bay. It has a nursery for infants while you work and a variety of amazing activities for the preschoolers each day. We love R.U.M.P.!"
- Daniel Fletcher

"Sending our child to school for the first time was definitely anxiety-provoking on so many levels. One thing we love about R.U.M.P. is that we're able to participate and be hands-on, in and out of the school. It's like having training wheels-- for him and for us! We really appreciate the connection that our child and our whole family has made with the teachers at R.U.M.P. Such a wonderful experience to help boost our son's confidence about school and learning in general."
- Melissa Dumaz

"As a former preschool teacher myself, I had a high standard for where I wanted my daughter to go. I knew R.U.M.P. was the place for us after a 30 minute visit. I couldn't believe it! And my daughter has learned and grown so much more than I expected in a very short amount of time."
- Alyssa Crawford

"R.U.M.P. is a wonderful preschool. This is our fourth year, with our second child and we are so excited to be part of this next phase. In many ways, this is our baby too! There are so many wonderful things about this preschool.
The teachers are amazing - kind-hearted, nurturing, generous and loving. Every single child and their needs are embraced and developed. Voices are never raised.
I love the ‘learn through play’ philosophy and despite the emphasis on ‘play’ there is structure, reasoning and a solid curriculum behind every activity. Best of all though I can be involved and witness my daughter’s development firsthand - see her grow, learn, enjoy, play - and her excitement when it’s my turn to help.
The Pre-K Program is exceptional. My son (a late July baby) was fully prepared for Kindergarten by the time he had graduated from R.U.M.P.
Thank you, R.U.M.P!"
