Spreading a little SUNSHINE wherever they go!
David and Patricia have been married 55 years this coming May 17th. David always says how Patricia is his one and only true love, and what a beautiful life they have had. Patricia still beams all these years later, when she tells me stories about their life together. I have never met two people who not only truly love eachother, but only speak respectfully and highly of one another. Patricia says she fell in love with him the very first night they met and danced with one another. Shortly after they were married! They have three grown children and 9 grandchildren altogether.
This is a very diificult, heartwrenching time for them, for you see David was diagnosed with Terminal Renol Cancer 6 months ago. He has undergone Chemo and Radiation and Chemo again. He will have Chemo the rest of his life now until its his time to pass on. Next week he will be starting Lung Chemo.
I am not their daughter, or related. I am just their friend, but I feel so blessed to know such wonderful, loving people. My friend Patricia's heart is broken, knowing her husband is suffering and will soon leave her. What will she do? David cries for her all the time, not even for himself, he worries for his love Pat. She tells me he is so very sad, so depressed. She wants to make him better but she can not. I asked her what can we do? Is there anything he wants to do before he dies? Does he have a bucket list? She said well there are things he would like to do , but they simply have no way of providing extra funds towards these things. She is the only one working, to pay for all these new unexpected costs, along with just their regular bills. My friend Pat proudly cleans peoples homes and takes great pride in what she does. Never complains about anything. She even sends her adult children money occasionally when needed, and happy to do so! David and Patricia have even opened their home to many people in need over the years. So generous still to this day, even when they have so little.
I can only tell you all that when others need help, including me and my family over the years, these two people David and Pat are the first to offer help. Thats how the live, serving others. This is why I feel compelled to make David's simple wishes come to life!
David's Bucket List:
1.) Ride in a small plane above Castle Rock and the surrounding mountainess areas.
2.) Drive a convertable corvette on a bright sunny day, with his True Love in the passenger seat! Listening to music they danced to and enjoyed together throughout the years. Frank Sinatra is their favorite!
3.)Plane ticket to Fly into Eugene, Oregon to visit his ailing daughter, who is also Cancer stricken and bed ridden. She will not be able to see him before he dies. Sadly, his daughters husband passed away a few years ago and left her with four children to raise alone. Patricia would love to go as well, for she too has not seen her daughter in four years. She really wants at least for David to go, so he can spend quality time with his daughter and grandchildren before he passes.
4.)Take a weekend train ride with Patricia through the Rocky Mountains, or even the Royal Gorge train ride! David was a train collector his whole life and likes all things Trains!
5.) Visit the Greeley Train Museum one weekend with Patricia.
Thats it! What a simple beautiful list. After I heard this list, I felt compelled to see how I could make his little wishes come true. So I reached out to the generous loving people in our community! I have been overwhelmed with all the wonderful offers and outpouring love displayed! All ideas and suggestions welcomed! Prayers welcome too!
