Blankets of Love

On September 27, 2018, I was officially diagnosed with invasive mammary carcinoma - breast cancer.  Since that time I have established a team of amazing doctors at The Dubin Breast Center at Mount Sinai in NYC, and my 16 week pre-surgery chemo regimen is already underway.

Before my first chemo treatment, I decided I wanted to make a cozy fleece blanket for myself to bring with me to my treatments.  Eric and I went to Joanns and I gathered up some pink ribbon fleece and Eric picked out a pattern of grey monkeys on a pink background which was adorable, and so the first blanket began.

October 12 was chemo round 1.  There were many sad faces in the infusion center; women just like me going through the same thing, who didn't want to be there, but had to be.  It was then that Eric and I decided that we wanted to change the frowns into smiles, the sad into happy, the sorrow into joy.

Here is where Blankets of Love come in:

We have found that if Eric measures and cuts the fabric and I tie the knots, we are able to make quite a few in a short period of time.  We thought, how amazing would it be to bring these blankets every time I go for chemo and distribute them to the other women, to show our love and support!  Making others smile brings us joy :)

This is where you come in:

By making a donation to Blankets of Love,  you will help fund our efforts in purchasing all of the fleece needed for each blanket.  Each blanket costs approximately $25 in material and we plan to make as many as we can over the next 14 weeks.  We have enlisted the help of others as well to join in the efforts; Nana Kaiser is a blanket making machine and Mama Chang is a fast learner!

Please help us brings warm hugs and smiles to my pink sisters who deserve all the love and support they can get during this difficult time.

Love and Blessings,
Mia and Eric Kaiser

P.S. Any additional funds raised will be used to purchase "happy".  My favorite "happy" products are from www.naturallife.com and they have graciously granted my request to donate a Natural Life Happy Box (https://www.naturallife.com/extra-large-happy-box.html ) for me to distribute among the patients and staff.  It is filled with happy little things;  every product they have makes me smile and I will keep the smiles going for as long as I can thanks to all of you!
