About Rostevan

My dearest friend, a young father of two little angels, loving caring husband, a beloved son and brother - Rostevan, has a CANCER BATTLE to stand against. Rostevan has been in my life for as long as I can remember, we grew up together, shared good and bad moments, always were there for each other, and I was honored to become a Godfather for his precious daughter Lizi. Rostevan devoted most of his life to sports, he was a professional swimmer, played water polo in Georgian national team, played baseball, and, in general, he is a healthy avid athlete who can’t get enough from this life. He is only 35, a young father of Lizi, 10, and Niko, 6, a husband of a loving wife Marita, who live with their family in Tbilisi, Georgia.
First diagnosis and foot amputation
In July 2014 Rostevan injured his foot while playing soccer. When he went to see a doctor to check on a swollen area of his foot, doctors said that there was nothing serious after examining the x-rays. In a matter of few days the injury was getting better, swelling disappeared, and everything seemed ok. But in January 2015 his foot, unexpectedly, got swollen again. This time, doctors said that the surgery is needed. They diagnosed Rostevan with Higrom (a noncancerous lump). The doctors thought that were just a tissue problem and it needed a removal.

The FATAL MISTAKE was not to make any further research, tissue analysis, biopsy, and tests. So they have decided to perform a surgery for tissue removal and rehabilitation thereafter.
After the surgery was done Rostevan’s foot was getting worse day by day. Then he was referred to oncologist who performed all the necessary tests and exams, and found that this actually was a cancerous tissue called Synovial Sarcoma. He was in a need of immediate surgery for removal of more cancerous soft and bone tissues.
The doctors did the surgery on May 20th, 2015. Unfortunately, after the surgery his wound would not heal.

Rostevan and his family were referred to John Hopkins Hospital Anadolus medical Center in Turkey. Doctors at the hospital told him that immediate amputation is needed. This surgery was scheduled and performed on August 13th, 2015 with the overwhelming expenses of 15,000€ (about $16,000).

Amputation of Rostevan’s right foot was done because chemotherapy was useless in his case of Leiomyosarcoma (one of the forms of a very rare and aggressive cancer called Sarcoma).
What is next?
After the amputation surgery in Turkey doctors scheduled a check up on November 12th, 2015 to see if there is more cancerous cell development. This time a CT scan revealed Stage 2 tissues metastasis on Rostevan’s both lungs. He is in an urgent need of immediate surgery to remove the cancerous tissues from one lung and in a few weeks another surgery to do same on the second lung. Only procedure cost is 18,000€ (about $19,200). The further treatment and procedures are going to be also very costly. We need help gathering funds for all his medical expenses, surgeries, rehabilitations, etc.

Rostevan is very strong in his faith and spirit and he said he would not give up on his fight against this aggressive cancer for his family, wife and two loving children.
Donations
Rostevan is a fighter and plans to beat this disease... but he and his family need your help! No donation is too small, and every dollar raised will go towards supporting Rostevan’s health.
I organized this fundraiser since Rostevan’s family is not fluent in English. I care for him as for my own brother. We all pray for his recovery and ask you to please keep him in your prayers as well. Be kind to share this cause as much as you can.
I am including link to Rostevan’s Facebook page in case if you would like to contact him directly. All the funds would be transferred to him (or his wife while he is in surgeries and recovery stage).

DIDI MADLOBA!
Cancer does not rest. It doesn't do a warm down at the end of a bicycle ride. Cancer doesn't sleep at the end of the day. It doesn't flee the cold for warm weather during school vacation. Cancer is relentless, showing no favorites and taking no prisoners. Wealthy or poor, educated or illiterate, young or old, it doesn't discriminate. Cancer has no friends, no allies, no comrades. It doesn't need any. It does its damage on its own. It is its own army. It is insidious, creeping into the lives of everyone, leaving a path of destruction and tragedy in its wake.
Thank you to all that love and wish to support Rostevan during this difficult time. God Bless!
With love and faith,
