Rosario Israel Gomez was a bright young boy. He was a child with autism, that was his uniqueness. His autism was what made him strong, what made him unique. He loved trains, he loved taking the subway and going on trips in the Metra. He could tell you every stop from his home all the way to whatever destination you had. He loved school and always looked forward to getting up and going. His family was addicted to his charming ways. He loved to help grandma with anything she needed, especially since she has trouble walking. He loved going everywhere with his grandfather.

Unfortunately, on January 25th, 2017 he went to school and never returned. That tragic day his family got a phone call stating he had been in an accident at school. The family rushed to the hospital, only to find out that Israel, only 14, had drowned. His family is devastated by this tragic loss. Israel’s grandfather was admitted to the hospital because of how hard he took the news. We are all devastated and cannot understand how the place your child should feel safe...suddenly becomes the reason why he does not come home.

We are asking for your help in funeral costs, please share the link/page with anyone that you know. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, and may God bless all of you.

I had a couple nice folks reach out to me, and were wondering how they can continue to show their support. I was thinking of creating a PO Box for Yolanda, Rosarios mom, I believe that many of you can continue to support her through this...perhaps by sending her cards...I am open to any other ideas so please share and I will do my best. Thank you once again...his ceremony yesterday was so peaceful, so many of you showed up....so many of his friends showed up, his teachers and of course all of his family.....he was so peaceful...an amazing mom here reached out to Metra, and they sent him a letter and two conductor hats, some pins, and a ticket punch...he was ready for his long trip to the angels.

I am about to close the account donations. I would like to thank everyone for their donations, for keeping our entire family in your prayers, and for the words of encouragement.

I am going to transfer the funds to Oscar Juarez, who is the direct uncle of our little angel. He has been in charge of the funeral and basically everything. The funds will be transferred to his bank account and he will distribute it to the needed parties.

I cannot ever repay any of you, but I cannot express our gratitude on behalf of Rosario's family.

This is horrible & this child deserves justice. This school should have video cameras in certain areas of the school & if so, it would show whether he wondered into this area by him, or was lead there by others who knew he was Autistic and could have pushed him into the pool knowing he didn't know how to swim. If there is video of this, I would get an attorney to immediately get a copy of this, so that the school cannot erase it. There is more to this young man's death than what has been reported. I pray for his family & hope that justice will prevail in Rosario's name. He was just 14.

I'm a former teacher at Kennedy and have an information that can help you. I'm trying to reach out to the parent's attorney with this information but I'm unable to find him/her. About a month and half ago I sent an email to Mr. Szkapiak's (principal at Kennedy) supervisor complaining that for the past 6+ years the school has placed special education para-professionals (one on one aid for special education kids) who are to be working with sped kids on one on one bases, to work in the office helping themselves as oppose to classroom helping kids such as Rosario. They said they will investigate but nothing happened. Then I sent the email to the top supervisor and no response. If this para-professional was in pool with this student this tragic incident may not have happened. This is negligent and mis-managing funds from school. Taking aid for students and putting her in their office (full time) to help themselves as oppose to the kids. We have full documentations that I can provide you or better yet provide the parent's attorney. Please contact me for more info or have the attorney contact me. I'm welling to be a witness at you case. Cyrous Hashemian 618-567-8060

My 18 year old god son Brandon is autistic. He is at the lower end of the spectrum. He is non verbal and lives at a special school. I don't get to see him much anymore but he is my heart. I could not imagine a world without him in it. Your story brought tears to my eyes as I try to imagine the pain your family is going thru. You have my heart felt prayers. I really wish I could donate to your cause but unfortunately my heart is sick and must have expensive medicen and procedures. I pray for your whole family. No parent should ever have to bury their child.
