Rosalie was a first year college student, from Buffalo, studying in California.  Film making was her passion.  She was beautiful, bright, loving and very creative.   She could light up a room every time she walked in it.

Sadly just a few days after celebrating her older sister’s wedding here in Buffalo - Rose fell ill and by Friday, collapsed.    Her roommate called 911 and an ambulance rushed her to the hospital.  Her body went into multiple organ failure and she was in a coma by Friday night.

Rose’s mother flew out that day to be with her, shortly after her father and 4 older siblings did as well.   Her older brother received a special pass, to join Rose at her bedside, from the Navy,  as he was serving in Bahrain at the time.

Tragically, the very hardworking team of specialists were unable to decipher what took hold of Rose.

Rose passed away yesterday.

I decided to set up this page to assist my dear friends w the mounting costs, expenses, hotels, food, medical bills, transportation etc

Their medical plan alone carries a $10,000.00 deductibe and then still a percentage will be their responsibility to pay. There will be costs associated w getting Rose home to buffalo, funeral, and also finalizing with the college as well.

Karen and Ted have been wonderful upstanding contributing members of their local communities and top notch corporate citizens - both very loved and well respected in the business sector.  Their love and devotion to their career and their clients and business partners are nothing less than remarkable.

This is a wonderful chance for the community to give a little back.

The family thanks you in advance for all your support throughout these last 7-8 days or so, since Friday January 18th.

Please prayerfully consider donating.

I ask that you take 90 seconds and meet this beautiful lovely young woman, Rosalie Catalano by clicking the link below:

And thank you from the bottom of our hearts

Hi everyone

My apologies for getting this info out so late.

First - the family is very overwhelmed by the continued love, prayers and support that have still been flowing in.

I have found it very challenging to make sure I have updated everyone who I can think of with the news of Rosalie’s passing.

I appreciate very much your help in sharing this page - thank you very much.

There has been 2 wonderful memorials in Rosalie’s honor held in California - a special thanks to all those who helped put them together. It is clear Rosalie has left an indellable mark on all of you.

Hi everyone - we are going on day 3 of this campaign - and I cant tell you how much I appreciate the enormous out pouring of support from all of you - the prayers and the donations continue to come in, and for this - I am forever grateful.

I have been advised that I give a bit of a background about just who I am and my relationship to the family and to be more precise on how the donations will be used.

I am an Executive Insurance Agent, live here in Lancaster with an office in Williamsville, with my wife and 8 children. My oldest is 19, youngest is 6.

I have known Karen for most of my professional career. She once called into my office looking for insurance. She happened to get me on the phone - could have been anyone at the time. Thankfully for my sake though, she got me. I was unaware that Karen already had an insurance background and I proceeded to provide her with the info she was seeking. I like to think I am very thorough with my clients, I am very honest and although I like, when I can, to help people to save money, I am unwilling to compromise insurance protection to help someone save a $. Apparently Karen liked this about me - and from there, our business relationship began.

We learned more about one another - I learned she had a young daughter named Rosalie - who was smack born in the middle of my oldest Jonathan(19) and 2nd oldest, Joshua(17).

As my business continued to flourish, many times my personal insurance clients had need for commercial insurance programs - and so Karen became my 'commercial arm' - helping every single one of my clients who needed it - and has remained so, for almost 2 decades.

We have grown into great friends over the years. Once her and Rose even volunteered to stay at my house for a few nights while my wife and I were away for a short vacation breather!! Karen and Rose brought fun crafts to do with my kids. We still have the towels and t-shirts they made w all of my kids' hand prints on them - in bright beautiful vibrant colors!

This is a very shortened version of my relationship to the family.

It will cost the family $2500.00 to have Rosalie cremated.

The initial medical deductible is $10,000

Current out of pocket expenses is up to $6300 which includes their flight to CA, food, lodging and incidentals for Karen, Ted and Rose's siblings.

Another $5400 in airfare to fly out of CA, to get everyone back home.

A memorial service in Buffalo for Rose - @ $3800.

And the family is bracing for potential final medical expenses that may end up near $100,000.

There is a separate account that Ted and Karen have set up, where all donations will be transferred to.

Thanks everyone.

More updates to follow.

Hi everyone - thank you all so much for your prayers - your love and the overwhelming show of support

Please continue to share Rosalie’s story on all your social media outlets and lets continue to help this family thru this.

Below is a note from Rosalie’s family thru her older sister Erin to all of you:

Dear Friends and Family,

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has donated to our campaign. The outpouring of love and support is so heart warming. In this time of sadness and grief we have learned so much about the strength and love of our community and we cannot be more grateful for this.

Along with the ability to help monetarily, we have another way for you to help us- the ICU staff at St. Joseph's Hospital Burbank deserves the most fantastic thank you for taking such great care of Rose. They worked around the clock to save her life and provided her and us with the best care I could have ever imagined. They were touched by an angel and Rose left a huge footprint on their heart as she did with the rest of us. We cannot be more grateful for all of those people in that hospital, but specifically the ICU staff. If you could or would like to write a heartfelt thank you card and send it to them.

The address to mail a thank you:

Providence St. Joseph's Medical Center Burbank
