Drew was born onMay 15th 2015 at 24 weeks gestation. He weighed 1lb 7.5 oz and was only 12 inches long. He had terribly immature lungs and was on a breathing machine for roughly 3 months. During his stay he suffered a minor stroke but overcame so many hurdles and graduated from the NICU after 158 days with no surgeries. He suffered from chronic lung disease and stayed on oxygen until he was almost a year old. Feeding issues along the way as well. He is very delayed with meeting milestones but continues to work hard to climb his own mountains. Finally just this past week Drew started to walk independently without the use of a walker. An enormous milestone that at times were unsure he could ever overcome. Without physical, occupational and speech therapy drew will continue to be delayed. However insurance doesn’t cover the cost of most of his therapies.
My good friend Jules Bruchez is helping us raise awareness of babies born premature by aiming to complete a 5k in his Fireman gear on May 12th. Just 3 days before Drew turns 3!! Any funds in surplus of Drew’s therapy will be donated to another family in need.
