Hermel's Rollerblade for Cancer Aid

In 2008 I rollerbladed 100 miles to support Deer River Athletics. At that time there was a need for funds. Now that a decade has passed I want to give it another try. This time around I am turning over all the money raised to Itasca Area Cancer Crisis Fund (IACCF). Almost everyone has been affected by cancer and IACCF is helping those in need.
There are four reasons why I am doing this fundraiser.
1) I ran into a person a year ago and we spoke about the 100 mile, 2008 Rollerbound for River Town trek. As our conversation ended he said, "I mean it was cool, but you could never do that today." Challenge accepted... 2) A former student of mine had cancer and I asked Grand Rapids Area Community Foundation for help and it was so easy to get him assistance. In a time of need people shouldn't have to jump through hoops, it should be easy to get help, and it was! I am honored to work with this group. 3) My mother passed away after a 5 year battle with cancer. There isn't a day that passes that I don't think about her and will fight to help those who are battling cancer today. 4) In 2008 my father was with me on the 100 mile journey, he has since passed away. My father was the strongest man I knew. He finished 30 marathons and over 70 half marathons raising money for cancer research with each completed race. He never started a race he didn’t finish. After I completed my 100 mile trek in 2008 my dad grabbed me by the shoulders and said, "Kid, I can't believe you pulled that off, that was very impressive." That was the biggest compliment my father has ever given me. This time around I rollerblade with him watching over me. I would be honored if you would support this cause, any donation will be greatly appreciated.
*** I will have 24 hours to finish the 100 mile trek. If I do not finish the trip in 24 hours I will return your donation in full. I hope to be finishing at the Tall Timber Days Street Dance at 7 p.m. on August 4th. I will hand over the money just before the band takes the stage for the street dance. Please join me that evening!!!
