Roger Martinez Housing & Health

Living in Caye Caulker; Belize C.A....Roger Martinez needs some emergency help. He is currently so sick that he has become bedridden and also completely immobile even with improvement due to not having a wheelchair or accessible housing.

He has been able to stay in a makeshift apartment under the home of a relative due to his current physical condition. In low lying land, flood waters often take weeks of no rain to finally begin to subsided. Not a good combination with summer heat temperatures already rising and the only electricity being a fan connected through an extension cord in the water. With his permission, I want to share some photographs and also hopefully video. Since Roger is very sick right now and also completely immobile because he doesn't even have a wheelchair. Even worse, is the reality of how he is having to currently live.

While we slept very well in our beds last night, as you can only imagine, Roger tries to sleep in a living hell with all kinds of uninvited animals and parasites accompanying him at night. Bed ridden in a room surrounded by 6"-12" of standing flood water. Anybody would itch all over the body just to think about it much less have to experience it. It's very sad to know that when it rains, we are able to stay in our home home sheltered from the rain. Roger can't move, doesn't have windows to close, and rain waters slowly rise to just below his bed. Roger is a human being and I don't think a human being must live in the conditions that he is in.

Roger needs our help...starting with a wheelchair and acceptable shelter from the elements in order for the community to begin building him a small accessible apartment on the same property. That is the main thing to get him out to breathe some fresh air despite is current deplorable living conditions. Roger also needs to go see the doctor and does not have the financial resources to do so. The water we are going to see inside the room also comes with a smell pretty bad unable to be captured through the internet.

Let us not forsake our bro Roger. Please help with any amount possible! God said in his word, anyone who helps one of my little, she's doing it to me. God bless you.
