Fund for Widowed New Mother of 8
On the way, an oncoming car hit a deer which was thrown into the Rogans' vehicle. Mike did not survive the accident. Niki and the children survived with only minor injuries. Niki gave birth to their son, Blaise, hours after the accident.
Mike served as a corporal in the US Marine Corps and was promoted to sergeant while remaining on with the Reserves. He applied the motto, "Semper Fi" to all aspects of his life, faithfully serving God, country, and family. He was a small business owner, providing organic supplements to dairy farmers.
Niki is a stay-at-home mom and homeschools her children who range in age from newborn to 15 years, and is left with providing for her family aided by only a minimal life insurance policy.
Please help us reach out and support this family in this time of profound loss. Your donations will be used to buy a replacement vehicle, to pay for funeral and medical expenses, and to create a safety net for the future welfare of the family. All donations will be transferred directly to Niki.
If you have any questions about the family, this campaign, or to make donations by mail, please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You may also make donations by mailing checks in the name of Niki Rogan to:

Glenn Beck coverage -- also links to similar fatality of a Michael Draper from Texas. Michael also died in a traffic accident, just two days before Mike Rogan. His wife is also named Nikki. They also have eight children. There has been some confusion between the two fundraisers, but Michael Draper's case was posted before ours, it is legitimate, and you are encouraged to support it:

The children and I have kept up our normal activities. We planted our garden, are raising two pigs, our oldest is taking Drivers Ed, and the older kids are getting ready to participate in summer camp. We also plan on going on vacation to a place Mike loved taking us.
There are many challenges for me each day as a single mother. The loss I feel for my best friend and protector is great. But I know God loves us and will take care of us. The many prayers said for us and Mike's soul have been a comfort and a source of strength.
Thank you and God bless,
Niki, Anne, Jon, Claire, Ben, Luke, Jacob, Gemma, and Blaise Rogan
We continue to be blessed with donations both on-line and through the mail. For those of you that have donated by mail, we have turned the checks over to Niki today, and they will be cashed over the next several weeks. A financial advisor from our church has been working with us and Niki in order ensure the proper handling of the proceeds from this fund-raiser and to help with other legal and financial matters.
Earlier today, we transferred the Gofundme.com account to Niki, who will now be able to see all of your comments, and will manage the account going forward. Thanks again to each of you for your generosity and support for the Rogan family. Working with you on this fund-raiser has been a humbling experience, the memories of which we will cherish always.

Yesterday, we went to Mike's funeral, which was attended by approximately 500 people -- likely the greatest number of people the church has held in many years. Over 50 people sang in the choir, both during Mass and at the grave site. A dozen Souls of Honor veterans ( https://www.facebook.com/soulsofhonor) attended the Mass and joined the escort from the church to the burial. During the burial, the VFW Post 6352 of Stratford, WI, conducted military rites. Afterwards, lunch was served in Mike's honor to several hundred guests.
Friday evening, we spoke to Niki, who said she was amazed by everyone's generosity and expressed how grateful she was that she wouldn't have to worry about money in the near future. Our sincerest thanks to all of you!
There has been a mix of emotions for our church family and community this past week; from grief at the loss of a precious life, to joy at the birth and baptism of baby Blaise, to encouragement from witnessing all of your prayers and support.
Mike's visitation will be this afternoon, and his funeral will be tomorrow. Please join us in keeping the family in prayer during this time of grieving.
God bless this family! (He must love them VERY much to ask such a cross of them.) They have our most sincere prayers. This could have been us as I am also pregnant with our 8th child in WI. Please let us know if this family needs extra support, a home, or anything else. I agree, I pray she is able to be at home for her children who will need her more than ever. What a terribly difficult time for them!
My heart aches for you. My husband was also killed in an automobile accident 7 months ago, at the time our daughters were ages 6 months and 4 years. One day at a time, you will have many ups and downs, but you must focus on God and be the strength for those beautiful children. God is the father of the fatherless and protector of the widows. You are in my prayers, be strong. Allison Cole
Prayers for this family. I hope this grows far beyond the current $25K target, but suggest not raising the target any more. Just let the donations rise (far, far) above it, ensuring that the funds are going to be collected and used rather than fall short of a higher "goal".
Eternal rest grant unto him Oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. I just thought of the state and federal taxes on income raised here. I have no idea what they'll amount to. Perhaps people can keep those in mind when donating because whatever amount of money is raised for anyone here will be taxed. Maybe we can shoot for enough to meet the family's needs and cover tax costs over and above their need.
Yes, you should be eligable for atleast $425 per child (maybe something different being you had a military man, hopefully more I'd check with the V.A. possibly?) in death benefits thru ssa.gov, I'm certain in your current state of grief it's the furthest thing from your mind but until the children are 18 in fact when my uncle and aunt passed recently my cousin did get that much at least. It's not much but it's something. You should apply asap or have a close member of your family do so asap as they refused to back date for her and you don't want to lose out on what is right fully yours as your husband fought for this country. I'm very touched and saddened beyond words by your story I cannot imagine what you're going through. However always remember that which does not kill us only make us stronger. Thank God that none of the kids or the new baby were injured or killed, I wish that no one was killed but at least we can say the little ones are ok. I wish i too could give but i am one of the many that are not in a position to do so but would like to send you my condolences. Bless your family. And I'm very sorry for your loss
Hi I am so sorry for your loss, and I know you probably hear that a lot, I know I can not help with money, but was wondering if their was any baby items you may be able to use, I had twins almost 6 months ago a boy and a girl, and have so much stuff, I can try to get a package in the mail, or maybe even deliver it if I end up going down towards Milwaukee at all.
As someone who works in property casualty insurance, this can be a claim on your comp/physical damage and medical part of your auto insurance. The party who hit the deer may be liable, ask your auto insurance company subrogation department to pursue legal action on your behalf. This is why you pay those premiums. God Bless you and may eternal rest be granted to Mike.
