Rocky Top READS School Supplies
Hello Everyone!
The event that I was so thankful to be part of was called Rocky Top READS. An event that brought in volunteers that took the time to explain how education, reading, writing effected their careers choices and currently influenced them in their carers.
The principal is under a lot of fire and I personally fear that she is going to be punished for all this when in reality this is not fair. She is on the right side of history and is an absolutely open minded and incredible human making a difference in her school.
The teachers that I got to interact with are equally amazing, and working hard every single day to provide kids with the tools/skills to have the best education. They all were so welcoming and so phenomenal in creating a safe and welcoming environment for myself and all students there.
The whole point of this event was to raise money so that teachers could have the basic and necessary equipment to help their students in classes. This program was meant to raise money for school supplies such as markers, books, calculator batteries, teaching supplies, and so much more!
I worry that because of all of this uproar that they need more support and a reminder of the important of the event. From my understanding they usually raise close to $20,000 each year, and this year they have only raised $9,000.
If you could take the time to donate $1, $5, $10 SOMETHING all of that money will go back to the Rocky Top Middle School to help provide teachers and students with the supplies they need to continue providing the best learning environment for students.
