Please help raise $38,700 to provide 450 bikes to young girls in Vietnam!

About Us
Rock-Paper-Scissors Children's Fund is a United States based non-profit dedicated to helping Vietnamese children and families in need. Our goal is to provide learning opportunities for young students through our bikes, art and music programs, as well as providing support for them and their families.

Over the years, we have given over 1,000 bikes to the girls of families that don’t have the means to buy a bicycle for their daughter, many times making difficult decisions for the sustenance to keep a growing family fed. One of the many things needed in the fight for girls to have access to education is finding a way for girls to get from their home to school in a safe way.

More About our Project
We know how stress and anxiety can affect young children, especially young girls during their years from primary school to high school. Difficult home lives impact children and prevent the full potential of a young student from being realized. We have seen how a simple gift of a bicycle improves family life and promotes girls getting to school quicker and safer on often unsafe roads.

School buses are virtually non-existent; parents potentially hold jobs that require them to travel to other provinces, distances that require them to be away for weeks or months at the time, bringing the family’s only mode of transportation, an 80 cc motorbike, along for the trip. Just getting to and from school each day becomes a huge obstacle. Riding a bike to school decreases the amount of time it takes to get to and from school which also decreases the time the girls are walking alone, vulnerable to assault and kidnapping.

Each bike we give has a padded seat on the back allowing at least one additional student the same means of transportation to a school. In recent interviews with girls who have received our bikes, we learned that having the bike has allowed them to have a friend ride, and some have taken on the responsibility of bringing their younger siblings to their primary school before riding to their secondary school some kilometers away.

How Funds will be Distributed
Funding will be used specifically to purchase bicycles, helmets and bike parts in Vietnam. Our bikes are purchased from small, local, family run shops in Thua Thien Hue and Khanh Hoa, Vietnam. We purchase our helmets from a company in Ho Chi Minh City called Protec. Funding will go directly to the purchase of these supplies, along with $20.00 USD to assemble and deliver the bikes to each bike giving. Here is the breakdown in costs as of September 2018:

• 1 bicycle = $55.00 USD
• 1 Protec Helmet = $8.00 USD
• 1 Bike pump and tubes = $3.00 USD
• Bike assembly and delivery = $20.00 USD
• Total cost of 1 bike: $86

Reaching our goal of $38,700 would enable us to provide 450 bikes to girls in Vietnam!
