Robert J. Huntz Scholarship Fund

Donation protected
Established in 1992, the Robert J. Huntz Scholarship is an annual award granted to an Ossining High School student pursuing secondary education in the field of Education and/or Mathematics.

Note: The scholarship was historically facilitated by the Ossining Rotary Club in Ossining, NY. We recently learned that the club may no longer have the ability to accept new funds to their scholarships, so we will be using this GoFundMe account to temporarily collect donations for the scholarship fund until the situation is addressed.

About Robert "Bob" J. Huntz (1935-2025)
After graduating from high school in his hometown of Forty Fort, Pennsylvania, Bob entered Bloomsburg State College in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, as a mathematics major and graduated in 1956 at the age of 20. He was a member of the Bloomsburg track team. His career in education began that year in New York and continued for 36 years, including two years in Heidelberg, Germany, and 34 years in Ossining, New York.

In Ossining, he served as a mathematics teacher and Assistant High School Principal, later becoming High School Principal, and he retired in 1992 as the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction. While Bob was Principal of Ossining High School in 1985, the school was selected in the National School Recognition Program as one of the ten best high schools in New York State. Each year since 1992, the Ossining Rotary Club has presented an Ossining High School graduate with the Robert J. Huntz Scholarship to further their education. While still teaching, Bob entered a master’s degree program at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, and received a master’s degree in 1964. When he received his degree at the Wesleyan University graduation ceremony, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was the commencement speaker.

Your support will keep Bob 's lifelong commitment to learning alive for future generations. Every donation—no matter the size—helps us honor his legacy by easing the path for aspiring educators and mathematicians from Ossining High School. Thank you for joining us in celebrating Bob’s remarkable life and for investing in the promise of students who will follow in his footsteps.
