Robbie’s Hope was established to provide support to our local resources in an effort to broaden and deepen the awareness of depression and suicide prevention in our local schools.

Robbie was 15 years old and a Sophomore at Lakewood High School. He was a great student excelling in all his classes, especially Math. Robbie was at home in the pool or on the courts playing the two sports he loved deeply, Swimming and Tennis. Surrounded by his friends at meets and at matches he was full of joy. Robbie brought so much joy and happiness to those around him. The past two summers he taught young golfers through First Tee of Denver and young swimmers at Rolling Hills Country Club. Seeing his students success always brought a smile to his face and when they failed his compassion shown through and gave them hope. This past week he was talking about what he wanted to study in college and researching cars for when he got his driver’s license in January. Robbie will always be remembered for his grace, kindness to others, wit and joyful presence. He was always looking out for others and putting them before himself.

Despite his gift of bringing love and joy to others Robbie was suffering in the darkness, battling privately with incredible pain. He succumbed to the silent illness of depression and took his own life on Thursday, October 11, 2018.

This fund is being managed by Jason & Kari Eckert, parents of Robbie and Co-Chairperson for Robbie’s Hope Foundation, a newly formed 501(c)(3) based in Colorado. Funds will dispersed to Robbie’s Hope and used for Student Outreach Activities, Teen Depression and Teen Suicide Education, and Operating Expenses.

It has been a busy month since our last update.

Our student group meetings continue every other week with a focus on small group conversations and guest speakers. The Second Wind Fund, an amazing non-profit that provides 12 therapy sessions to at risk youth free of cost, spoke to the group in mid Nov.

We have also been blessed with an incredibly generous donation in kind from TDA Boulder & Cultivator Ads. They are two of the premier marketing agencies in the Mountain West and they have donated their time and services to help us create the brand, website, and social media strategy for Robbie’s Hope. Best of all they are doing that while they coach, teach and mentor our students that are interested in creative design and marketing. Look for our website later this month.

Speaking of creative design we have a logo. We held a student design competition and then they voted on the winning design. Congratulations to Nick Ryan for the winning design. Check it out on Facebook or Instagram. Another huge thank you to Kilpatrick and Townsend for donating their time and service to register the name and logo with the US Patent Office.

Our Board of Directors has been formed and our 501(c)(3) paperwork has been filed with the government.

We will also have an on-line store coming soon courtesy of TK3 Designs for all your wearables and SWAG featuring Robbie’s Hope. Christmas is right around the corner!

Finally, if you do not follow us on Facebook and/or Instagram please do so. We can be found at:
