Water Aid for Flint, MI
The Fusfoo staff saw a segment on The Rachel Maddow show about the water problem in Flint, MI and The Mission of Hope was featured as an organization that is helping to distribute clean water to those in need. We were very moved by this story and reached out to the Mission to figure out how we can help. We have created this fundraiser to help the people of the Mission of Hope provide Flint residents with better resources to clean water. Please see more information below.
The governor of Michigan has declared a state of emergency in Flint, MI over problems with lead in the city's drinking water. Tap water is not safe to drink and bottled water is running very low.
The Mission of Hope Shelter and Pastor Bobby Jackson in Flint have been providing cases of bottled water to those in dire need, but they have run out of resources. The city and state are not offering any aid and the local residents of Flint need your help to access clean drinking water.
We have been in touch with Pastor Bobby and Dean, a volunteer at the Mission. They have been receiving shipments of water and are currently figuring out how and where to store the donated items. They have a small staff of about 5 and they have been overwhelmed and overjoyed with the outpouring of donations from people around the country. The money raised here will be used to buy more water, store it and distribute it to those in need.
Please donate what you can to help raise money for The Mission of Hope Shelter to help local Flint residents!

We reviewed how he will be using the funds from the campaign, which I have outlined below.
First and foremost, he will be using the funds from this campaign to pay the shelter's water bill. Many people in the community go to the Mission to shower and they need to ensure that water bill is paid.
They have been receiving many donations of pallets and cases of water and they do not have enough room to store it all. Local community colleges and organizations have donated storage spaces, but that has not been enough. He will be using part of the funds to rent storage spaces for the donated water.
There are many Flint residents who are shut ins, disabled or do not have access to cars. Many of these individuals are not able to come to the Mission to pick up water. Pastor Bobby will be renting vehicles and hiring people to deliver water directly to people's homes.
Funds will also be used to print and distribute informational packets on lead poisoning. The packets include information about the dangers of lead in the water, the signs of lead poisoning, what to do with pets and phone numbers to call with specific questions. About 33% of Genesee county is close to illiterate, so they will already be creating informational packets that are easier to read.
Finally, they will also be using the funds to buy and distribute filters. Pastor Bobby said that they have been using Pur brand filters.
Thank you again for all of your support and I will post more updates as I speak to Pastor Bobby!
This nonprofit runs completely off donations. Please consider helping the Mission of Hope pay their water bill for community use. All donations for the Mission's running water fund can be directed below.
Hello all! I am the one who started this page. I work for a company called Fusfoo. The Fusfoo staff saw a segment about the water crisis in Flint on The Maddow Show and we contacted the Mission of Hope to start a fundraising page for them. We are located in New York, but have been in contact with Pastor Bobby and a volunteer named Dean from the Mission of Hope in Flint. All funds will be directed to them to use for the water crisis in Flint. For those interested in learning more about the Mission of Hope, please visit their website here. - http://hope4flint.org/ They are a fairly new organization, they opened in 2014, which is why some of you may not be familiar with them. I hope this helps! Best, Jana
I have visited the Mission of Hope a couple times, most recently today. His own water is on and the place is stacked with water! He had to get a storage space to keep it all. The homeless or those whose own water has been shut off can once again go there to take a shower or do some laundry. While the official "organized" donation sites require proof of residency, the Mission does not. They only ask for a name and how many people. And the people can return the next day to get more water. Quick and easy. For those who say they have never heard of the mission, I say go there. Visit Pastor Bobby. He is an impressive man who has been serving the neediest of the needy for several years. His Mission is small, humble. But it is quickly obvious he loves what he does. spread the word. There is no easier way to get free water than from Pastor Bobby. I am volunteering time there now to help with those who need water delivered, etc
Hey working here in flint... I'm reaching out to those that have collected funds for flint Michigan. Me and a few local groups are trying to put together a thank you package..As transparency is key on our end, if you could provide any type of documentation showing where the money went, I would like to add you to the list of donors... Thank you...
I also have never heard of this mission. I live in Flint as well. The water smells absolutely disgusting and do not drink it at all. I love on the east side of Flint and not once has anyone knocked on my door and offered us bottled water or to test it for is. Hopefully all this money goes to give water to the city.
and this is based from NY,Ny??????
Can people please go to share my page and donate for a good cause I'm trying to better myself
The Mission of Hope held it's 2nd annual Health Fair today. Beautiful weather! We of course covered health issues related to the ongoing water crisis.
Hi and congrats on such a successful campaign! I was wondering, with such an awesome success -- raising over $45K in less than two weeks -- if you would be kind enough to give me some pointers on how you achieved that goal so quickly. I would really like to learn. Thanks! and best of luck to the folks in Flint getting this crisis fixed ... we are facing something similar in Stockton, CA.
Flint was reconnectex to Detroit's water system in October. http://www.mlive.com/news/flint/index.ssf/2015/10/flint_reconnecting_to_detroit.html
Glad to see the success of this account. Please provide status of funds - I'm sure Bobby & the people of Flint need some money for water now. Hope to see some progress on Monday. Thanks.
Mrs. Tufford I live in Flint as well. Near Carpenter rd. and jennings. I am from flint also my crossroads are near Carpenter rd. and linden rd. I have a go fund me that would help bring a product called the life straw. it's the size of a big marker, you can put it in your purse even wear it around your neck. this product allows you to drink mud water, Mygofundme. will be distributed to the homeless veterans, People with low income, or just don't trust restaurant water. I know people opt for the bottled water but 1 straw can replace over a thousand bottles of water. Not only do I want the water clean take a minute and think of all the money you would save. I mean we have to pay way tooo much for water anyway this allows us to consume what we pay for with confidence.https://www.gofundme/s2f9gxhg
I know of Mission of Hope. I worked throughout the city of Flint. There are many agencies here in Flint that I never knew of even though I was born here until I started working the city. It is great they are helping the people here but, I would also like to say, they are not the only ones helping. There are others agencies involved and hitting the streets to help people here too. Thank you from a long life citizen of Flint and Burton.
This is crazy! Glad to see everyone cares but my family hasn't n prolly won't see anything from any agency or group.. It's a lot worse here than jus the water problem ... I'm js
mhm well thats a good man i asked around and found it thank god someone is helping doing something
Resources are being made available to the residents of Flint at this time. http://nbc25news.com/news/local/water-resource-sites-established-in-flint
Freda , there is a direct link on Maddow's blog under Mission of Hope info, where one can donate directly to his water bill account. Thank you for that information !
While he is helping so many people in Flint, he himself has no running water at his community service location. It is a place where people can go during the day and even shower if they need a place. I believe he told me he owes around $1200. His nonprofit organization runs completely on donations. I would love for this wonderful man to be able to benefit from this to be able to turn on his own water as it is used by the community.
