Rivers of Gateway

Rivers of Gateway is a non-profit organization developed by Rollin and Lori Mains. 


The hands on project consists of RESURRECTING 
an old community center known to the City of Battle Creek. In 1942 the center was built by the Army for the USO and housed the African-American soldiers for social functions, then it was engrafted to an outreach center to the African-American children of the city. It finally closed its doors years later.


Our vision is to resurrect the center with your help, to again reach out to the community's people’s needs such as; homeless, widows, divorced hurting parents, children and families. The vision is to supply physical needs to the homeless, programs on "how to" for the grieving, the broken families, and come along side for physical needs for children and classes to support and lay a foundation down -on life skills for all.

Rivers of Gateway will be a stronghold in the city and will be known as a friend to the people. The foundation of this project is one that has voices in the walls of this building from the past, cheering us on, as they too were reached out to and helped.

We are connecting with United Way, One Place, homeless shelters/missions and other programs for our local community.

What have Rollin and I contributed to this 
outstanding project that will benefit the community personally? 
 We liquidated two assets of retirement, let go of having a second car that's in good shape, did not pay off that credit card, went without a new kitchen (I will paint cabinets instead), Christmas presents, birthday money for our 9 children and 4 grandchildren have been slim. But we believe the vision is worth it all!

Rivers of Gateway's Needs:
100% contributions go for-
approximate  figures until prints are approved by City of Battle Creek and bids are collected. 

$18,000 for Architect prints for City of Battle Creek, actual cost. - 
$1969 has been raised  for prints. 

$27,000  New roof where flat roof is now. -
Tichenor Inc has donated a full flat roof in October 2017
