Rita McGuyer's Funeral Fund

We lost our sweet Rita McGuyer today, September 20th, 2017.  She was loved by so many.  She was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend.  She is preceded in death by her husband of almost 49 years, David S. McGuyer.  Her only child, Michalle Prieto was always the apple of her eye and her husband, David was loved by her as well.

Rita was incredibly proud of her three grandchildren, Kellie Brewer (Chad), Kerrie, and Justin and could talk about them for hours - and did.  She was a protective dog mommy to Princess and Pearl, her constant companions.  Rita had many "adopted" kids and grandkids that she loved as well - you know who you are!  She never met a kid she didn't want to take care of.

She loved to read, watch old Christmas movies, play cards and games and above all - spending  time with her family.  I was blessed to be one of her "adopted" family and to have gotten to knowand love her these last 10 years.   My boys thought of her as another "grandmother".  (Ok, she might have loved them more than me.)  I will always remember her spunky attitude and sassy comments that ultimately showed her sincere love for you.

Rita suffered her first major illness 16 years ago, a heart attack, forcing her to retire and go on disability.  Throughout the following years, she suffered from several heart complications and diabetes.  Two weeks ago, her severe diabetes resulted in the amputation of her foot.  Following the surgery, her health deteriorated quickly and she ended up in ICU in a medically induced coma.  She never woke up and passed away peacefully at 2:15AM this morning.  Unfortunately, with all her health issues, she was unable to secure any life insurance and her many doctor visits had drained any savings she had.  Her family is unprepared to pay for the impending funeral and internment costs (due September 26th) and would appreciate any financial help you can provide.  Please consider a donation to this fund in her memory in lieu of flowers.  The Prieto family and my family thank you in advance for your kind gift.
