Hi facebook RIDE FOR JAKOB followers. My ride across America from the Pacific to the Atlantic has begun. I'm excited yet as we drove to the Pacific coast from Michigan I could not help but see that this is going to be a long ride, a test of endurance. Prayer coverage is so greatly needed each day for safety, health and protection and for financial support to establish this 'care provision fund' for my grandson JAKOB. Follow me on my facebook page:  https://www,facebook.com/rideforjake and please help me put in place this fund for Jakob's future care and speech therapy. The go fund me link is: https://www.gofundme.com/ride-pacific-to-atlantic-for-jakob Any amount big or small WILL BE a direct BLESSING to Jakob. Jakob cannot speak to thank you himself but through me-you will touch the life of a boy that is so precious to everyone who knows him. Thank you for your contribution to Jakob. He is so special in my life and his picture on my bike will drive and motivate me daily. Thank you-Ken Smith

I’m reaching out to anyone who can help me establish a GoFundMe to support my grandson Jakob. Here is Jakob’s story IF he could speak: “Hi I’m Jakob Smith and my grandpa is Ken Smith. When I was born I came into this world just like the Lord created—perfect in every way! THEN something happened—I don’t really know or understand any of the details because it seriously affected my ability to communicate. It was said I would not be able to walk, see or speak. Well, I just had my 16th birthday and I can walk, I can see with glasses BUT I still cannot speak BUT I know I can someday so I can share what’s locked inside of me to tell my mom and dad and sister and others just how much I LOVE THEM!

I wish life could be different for me and especially for my parents as well. Grandpa Smith decided to do something CRAZY for me and that was to ride his bicycle across the United States from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean this year. He is doing this to put together a fund for my future in case anything happens to either my mom and dad. If anything happens to either of them, what is going to happen to me? Grandpa said he wanted to do this for me and I sure wish I could tell him just how I feel. Will you help support him financially and pray for him on this ride?

If you could support my GoFundMe by making a donation and then sharing it with your network I would greatly appreciate it. I know that money can be tight, so please know that even $5 helps get closer to my goal! Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll be happy to answer them.

Here is a picture of Jakob and me at this 16th birthday and a poem that his sister wrote about Jakob that she read to her school class mates about her brother.

I’m speechless.
I wake up I have no words.
I go to school I have no words.
I try to communicate with other people but I have no words!
I’m speechless.
I want to tell my family how much I love them but I can’t.
I really hope they know that I do.
I hit my head to try and tell them something but they put a helmet on me because they don’t understand.
I also have a bad habit of pinching but I just have so many words, thoughts, and so much more that I need to say but I can’t.
I’m speechless.
There is one good thing though.
Even though sometimes I feel like the only one, 25% of people in the world are like me.
Also, I know my family really loves me and will do anything for me.
I’m Jakob, this is my life.
I’m speechless.

For those who read the first two FACE BOOK articles that outlined my New Year’s Resolution to ride across America for my grandson, Jakob Smith here is where it all started. After reading this short letter created by Jakob’s mother, Sue Smith you will now understand the passion, drive and determination I have for doing this RIDE FOR JAKOB from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean this summer and to raise funds to put in place a security trust for Jakob for his future.
As a grandfather I just felt compelled that I had to do something. When you look at your own life knowing just how BLESSED you have been with good health, relationships and a loving family of which you HAD and/or HAVE the ability to communicate with each other, and then you look at Jakob whom you cannot help but LOVE and appreciate and just want to HUG and a child you just want to be around as often as you can, you cannot stop and wonder just what is going through his mind and heart because even though they said his life would not be long he has beaten all the odds but now what kind of life will he have IF anything happens to his parents. Who is going to care for him? Where is he going to go? I shudder at the very thought of thinking about his UNKNOWN future.
Here is my ‘go fund me’ link. I am now preparing for this adventure of a lifetime and with such a driving force to make this RIDE as a legacy for JAKOB—my grandson who may never know how much he is LOVED and what has been done to make his life as comfortable as possible.

Any donation in any amount will be huge BLESSING. I will be posting more information as I get closer to the starting date of August 1st.
