On August 5, 2017, Richard "Ricky" Archer was on his way to a Houston Astros game with his wife, Chasity, to see their favorite player, Jeff Bagwell inducted into the Hall of Fame. Before leaving Lufkin, they stopped at Valero Lucky's gas station to fill up.
While in line to pay for the gas, Ricky was assaulted and robbed. The man who assaulted him, hit, stomped and kicked Ricky for several minutes. Ricky was life flighted to Houston Memorial Herman. He has a Le Fort III facial fracture, jaw broken, artery swollen, a damanged eye and other damages to his body.
Ricky will have to have reconstrutive surgery and many other visits to Houston and other doctors for treatment and to recover. This will take an unknown extended amount of time away from his job. Ricky is a supervisor at Lam Technologies in Diboll and his wife, Chasity is the administrator of KST Daycare in Diboll. They are a good hearted, hard working couple, who are members of Promise Land Baptist Church in Lufkin. They will face a mountain of financial challenges over the next few months. This campaign is set up, with permission from Chasity and Ricky, to help raise some much needed funds.
