Rick McCormick passed away unexpectedly. Rick was such a loving, caring, kind man. He would do anything for anyone in a heartbeat. He was a wonderful friend to so many. It’s time for everyone to show their love and support for his family. They have been dealt a very difficult hand this last year and shouldn’t have to stress about money during this difficult time. Chief Richard “Ricky” McCormick, age 49, of LaVergne, TN, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018. A native of Maxton, NC he was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Gene and Sally Faye Wilkerson McCormick; and his son, Brandon Taylor McCormick.


Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Highland Heights Church of Christ. Brother Stephen Hale will officiate. Burial will be in Mapleview Cemetery.



He is survived by his loving wife Diana Allen McCormick; sons, Tyler McCormick and Jordan McCormick of LaVergne, TN; daughter, Ashley McCormick of Smyrna; grandchildren, Annabelle and Abigalle McCormick; brother, Allen McCormick and his wife Briana of Manchester, TN; sister, Christa Nichols and her husband Nick of LaVergne, TN; father-in-law, Bobby Allen of North Carolina; mother-in-law, Judy Allen of California; and his loving canine children, Sebastian, Sabienne, Jasmine, Cheyenne, and Shiloh.




Chief McCormick was a 1987 graduate of Smyrna High School. During High School he began to volunteer as an explorer with the LaVergne Fire Department. He actually left graduation to respond to a fire call, and has since continued to serve his community with the department. He was promoted to the honorable position of Fire Chief for the City of LaVergne Fire Department in 2014 serving as the first municipal chief in the city. He loved spending time with his family and he will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.


The LaVergne Fire Deparment will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Highland Heights Church of Christ.
