A van for Rick!

Rick is a 20 year old young man with cerebral palsy who faces severe physical and medical issues that acquire astronomical medical, therapy and equipment bills! Talking to Rick you would never know all he must endure because he always has a smile on his face! He is one of the most kind, caring, positive people you will ever meet. His outlook on life could teach us all something. He never feels sorry for himself and can often be found trying to cheer someone else up. His sense of humor gets him through the tough times and he is just a great guy to spend time with. He is the last person that would ask for anything for himself and would give anything he has to help others. Somehow he finds time to volunteer at the humane society to help homeless animals in between his many daily medical treatments. The wheelchair accessible van the family has now is 16 years old and has served them well but just cannot be used much longer. I was inspired to start this account when I found out Rick and his nurse use Lake Tran to go on outings but it limits them to lake county. On the days they are not open or when he cannot call enough time in advance he and his nurse ”walk” sometimes 1 hour there and 1 hour back to go out to eat or enjoy a day out just being young adults hanging out. He has hardworking loving parents who do everything possible to give rick all that he needs. I would like to see us come together as a community and help Rick get a van so he can go out and experience the world outside of lake county or walking distance! I know the family is trying to save for a wheelchair accessible van but they are extremely expensive. I would love to see him have this van as soon as possible! If we can not raise enough to buy it out right maybe we can raise enough money to put a good down payment to make it more it affordable for the family! If you are able to donate you will not find a more deserving young man.
