In the optical realm, I'm the smallest fish in a massive pond. My name is Eric Healey and I'm the One Eyed Optician that wanted to change the way people purchase glasses. The business was started with a completely straightforward business plan: Everything for sale is realistically priced based on the cost of making it. This business plan led to pricing which is almost 75% off any other optical shop out there for the exact same product! It should have taken off like a rocket.
Sadly, my location and lack of marketing skills (I studied chemistry and physics in college) made it tough to get the word spread. I was also unprepared for the summer slow season and after investing every dollar in my life savings and taking an additional $150,000 in personal loans to open my office, I ran out of money and got behind on my rent.
Fees from Downtown Project and Container Park added on (an article from the Review Journal explains ) left me with a staggering $8860 bill to be paid by Nov 16. Update: Thanks to some media attention and the generosity of the Downtown Project, the deadline has been extended to December
This GoFundMe is set up to raise nothing more than that $8860. If that mark is met, any additional funds will go towards paying for glasses for the charitable organizations I work with . If the money is raised and you are in Las Vegas and would still like to contribute, please come to the Downtown Container Park and visit my office and purchase glasses or sunglasses.
