Nico, Our Heart Warrior

Donativo protegido
On March 31, 2015 early in the morning Jessica went into Labor with Nico. She left her house to go to Miami at 3:15am and got to Baptist hospital in Miami at 4:45am and this is when the journey started. Nicolas William Ferran was born at 6:41am.

Nico was diagnosed with Transposition of the Great Arteries, a significant but very fixable heart defect when Jessica was 5 months pregnant. Jessica and Eddy worked very hard to find the best doctors and had a wonderful plan for his arrival in Miami closest to Miami Childrens hospital but, as we know in life, we can't plan for everything. Our mighty Father has the master plan book and we don't have access to it so we have to have faith. They knew this diagnosis required open heart surgery very soon after he was born but, were very confident that after the surgery, he would be on the mend to live a long, healthy, great normal life with them.

What they didn't plan for was for one of his valves to close and for his oxygen to drop to 30% within his first 15 minutes outside of the womb. They also did not expect it to take them so long to get Nico to Miami Childrens Hospital via Trauma Hawk. The Doctors were stunned that he was alive when he arrived and ballooned him and his oxygen went from 30% to 93% within minutes, which saved his life! They were calling him the miracle baby. We don't have the answers as to why all of this happened YET but, the entire Ferran/Luhring family are dealing with a lot more then they initially anticipated.

Lack of oxygen for that amount of time causes organ failture. He’s had a collapsed lung, damage to the liver and kidneys, tissue damage, a level 1 brain bleed and 6 seizures. They are still trying to figure everything out and we do not have very many answers but, Nico is is very critical condition. The Ferran/Luhring family needs your prayers but, now they also need your financial support. What should have been a 3 week stay at Miami Childrens will be much longer They are staying in an apartment right next to the hospital so they can go back and forth, Jessica's mom has taken off work so that she can stay with Ben and Jessica can be with Nico and the doctors to try and figure all of this out, and Eddy is traveling back and forth to West Palm Beach 3 to 4 days a week (2.5 hours each way) trying to maintain his business to the best of his ability to keep that side of their life stable.

The Ferrans and Doctors are Cautiously Optomistic but they know it will be a very long road and it will not end when they leave Miami Childrens.

Many of you have reached out to ask how you can help or what you can do......this is what you can do right not....pray first daily and give if you can. Any amount matters. Maybe you know the Ferrans, maybe you don't....That doesn't matter. You can be rest assured that any amount of money given will be used to take care of this little Miracle whether it be medical bills, food, housing and everyday necessities.
