Bethea Lake Restoration

In October 2016, Hurricane Matthew destroyed the lake, the dam and Bethea Road on the campus of Bethea Retirement Community in Darlington, SC.   This lake was a beautiful recreational area for our residents and Bethea Road  is a connector road for over 1,500 Darlington County citizens every day.

Almost immediately, officials with Bethea Retirement Community and the SC Baptist Ministries of Aging began raising money to repair the lake and the dam.  These must be repaired before the road can be replaced.

As of today, more than $214,000 has been raised. But we need additional funds so we will be able to add a pedestrian/golf cart path across the lake, purchase a new pontoon, and  restock the damaged lake.   All monies raised through the Bethea Lake Restoration project will be used to support the rebuilding efforts of the lake and dam.

We are so grateful for those who have already donated to this project. We certainly could not do this rebuild alone. And we certainly cannot thank you enough for donating to our community, ministry and residents who come to live with us so they can continue to serve others.
