Celebration of Being Clean

$885 of $1,500 goal

Raised by 7 people in 7 months
This GoFundMe is about celebration. My younger brother David, has had a long battle with drugs, and so has his wife, Angel. He went to prison due to crimes he committed to feed his habit. They have both been clean and out of prison for almost a year now and I want to show him that hard work does pay off. Angel, even went back to school and graduated with her bachelors in Biology from Oklahoma State.

Him and his wife both like to game so I would like to build him a beast of a gaming PC and I would like your help in doing so.

David and I were very close before the drugs, and the main reason I am doing this is to celebrate their milestone victory against addiction and to celebrate having my brother back, and gaining a new sister in law

You may not know me or him, but if you feel the want to help us celebrate having my family be whole again. please give

I personally will be putting in $500 or more of my own money, and so will my parents.

From Mom:

Drugs. A blight upon our country that, alas, is touching more and more families. Good families. Families where God is central to all you do. And when the unthinkable occurs, often these families are ill equipped and unprepared for the devastation that follows. We are one of those families.

Our journey started on December 31, 2010. It has been seven years of the darkest nights imaginable. And yet a time where God has revealed Himself to us in ways we could have never imagined.

Our son made these choices. And he is paying a severe price for his actions. All of which are deserved. I believe in forgiveness. Our son and his wife have been clean since the spring of 2016 when they were arrested. Since their release they have stayed clean. Both are employed, working diligently on their community service, faithfully reporting to their respective probation officers (our daughter-in-law will finish her probation in November of 2018 and our son is getting ready to be placed on unsupervised parole), they are meeting all of their court appointed restitution payments, and passing all of their drug tests. There is no money left over and my husband and I pay their rent.

Our daughter-in-law graduated, from Oklahoma State University, in May of 2017 with a degree in Biology. Her diploma is still being held at the university because she is unable to pay off her tuition costs. We had an anonymous benefactor that paid off her restitution and court fees. Before she can pursue a job in her field, her OSU accounts must be paid in full.

Our son has a $12,000.00 court ordered restitution requirement. It seems that every time they turn around the state is requiring more money from them. It is hard, on minimum wage jobs, to make all the court appointed payments and fees. But they are diligently moving forward and working hard at turning their lives around.

When our daughter-in-law is finished with her probation she and our son will be allowed to leave Oklahoma and relocate to Texas. At that time our daughter-in-law would like to find a job in her field and our son would like to start school.

As parents we are excited to see the changes taking place in their lives and want them to be successful as they move forward.
