the larder + the delta REBOOT

Some time ago, it was a dream of mine to create a restaurant that was different than that of traditional restaurant...

A restaurant where the staff of cooks, dishwashers and service team members share collectively.  Where food is sourced locally, community activism is the standard.  Or  where the idea of one single idea being the only answer/direction was impossible.  A new kind of restaurant that operated as one - thought as one.

In the fall of 2014, the vision came to fruition with the help of some very important people in my life.  I will forever be grateful to them for that, words cannot express my gratitude.

The larder + the delta opened in the Spring of 2015 to great reviews and through hard work, we did some amazing things.  We produced amazing food,  won numerous awards and accolades, supported our community.  We were part of something special happening in downtown Phoenix.  We were on the fore front of a new wave of diners coming into downtown to witness what was going on in this new incubator, this new hub, and by all assumptions  things were going great.

But as we fast forward to the reality of business - we were losing money and not  because the food was bad or our fan base fell off.  We realized that we needed to expand and really give our guests what they have been asking for..... a full-service experience.

So on July 13th, I made one of the hardest choices I have ever made:  to close the larder + the delta and pull out of a project that meant so much to me.  I did this in order to work on getting the larder + the delta its own home, so we could do more for our fans.

On Sunday, July 16th we served our last meal. Now, facing the high cost of an opening in a new location we are asking for our communities support with getting us back on our feet.

Anything will help us to our goal. I understand the goal seems high, but with every donation, a task off our checklist gets checked.  From legal representation, permits, small wares, restaurant design, equipment deposits, rentals - there are just so many tasks to check off before we can open.

I cannot begin to thank everyone for the positive wishes & notes of support through this transition for me, I am humbled and honored to be a part of a downtown community like Phoenix.
