What happened to Jon Pownall?

This project has been in my heart for more than 40 years. Originally my mother,  my brother, and a cousin wanted to tell the story. All three of them are now gone. Tom, my younger brother, supports me now in expressing this story, but he was only eight and I was 16 when our father was murdered, August 31, 1973.  Tom doesn't have a lot of memory of our dad, but when I look at him I see my father. 
 Our dad taught us to be self-motivated with our ideas. 

I'm extremely thankful for that example. This will be a project to bring  my father Jon Pownall story back to life. A photographer and film maker from the 60s & 70s, I need to digitizing the story of his art,  and of the circumstances and the characters surrounding his murder. 

My fathers life was as complex as his art.... with conspirators, murderers, police, detectives, attorneys and the legal system of Maine. I would like to share this even though it’s painful, to let the true facts be known. In sharing I hope to open doors, to give others in my position the ability to communicate the emotional agony of a loved one who was murdered or died abruptly.


Your funds will go towards: 
1. I will use the funds to organize my father’s (Jon Pownall) commercials,  films, photos, transparencies and digitize them.

2. I will do research and reach out to find people who knew my father to know more about my Dad. This will require traveling.

3. I will buy equipment that is needed for the project and have a space to work in with internet.
