Our growing animal sanctuary

$5,323 of $14,400 goal

Raised by 79 people in 2 months
It all started a few years ago on a small piece of land here in South Florida with a rescue Pitbull and two rescued pigs. I saw terrible things all around me and like most vegans and animal activists I wanted to do something about it.......So I did! From there we grew to rescue goats, multiple dogs, rabbits, chickens, ducks, turkeys & 5 more pigs. It got to the point where we couldn’t take in any more animals because we wanted to ensure the rescues that live here at @LilyAndFriendsRescue have the best quality of life. After what some of them have been through it’s incredibly important to us that the rest of their lives be the best of their lives.

With that said more animals need our help and we answered the call. Together we did it! We were able to get a 5 acre property to expand the sanctuary so we can do so much more. I literally put everything I have into this and without your generous donations/support it wouldn’t be possible.

Now that we are here the real work begins. Our first rescue on the new property is a sweet mule named Leroy. Although the property is not fully ready we are making it work not only for him but also for our second rescue arrival here, a sweet little pig named Petunia.

Here is the game plan moving forward and this is where you come in! My first priority is getting the stable built for Leroy not only for shelter but there are some veterinary visits coming soon and they want him to have a place to rest and recuperate so it is absolutely essential. Aside from that all of the fencing in his area including new gates need to be built/secured. After which the fencing neighboring him needs to be redone with gates as well as another shelter built for pigs & goats. This also requires appropriate fencing because goats are big-time jumpers. Once this area is complete because of the fencing/stall will not only be able to take in pigs and goats but also cows. If we have the wherewithal to rescue an animal and give him/her a forever home it’s going to happen!

As far as raising the money I have a written estimate from a contractor I trust who did all of the work for the other property. He gave me a full quote for not only a double stall but all of the necessary fencing, gates & housing to get the pig/code section up and running. The total quoted was 14,400. That quote includes all of the potential fencing needed for current and future rescues, the good thing is not all of the fencing needs to be replaced and can be easily repaired. On top of that I’m working with some amazing people in the animal activist community who going to help arrange volunteer days to help with the labor as well as donations for supplies. This can bring down the cost tremendously & because of this I believe it will take less than what was quoted therefore what will do with the rest of the money raised is use it for things like veterinary bills, feed, rescue transport and anything else needed to take in animals and make sure they are happy and healthy.

We are in this together so you should know where your money is going. As different projects are completed & billed I will be posting the invoices/receipts on my website in the sanctuary section at www.consciousmuscle.net/sanctuary. This way we will always know how much has been raised and how it’s being used. I think it’s so important for everyone to see how their contributions are helping the animals.

For those of you who have donated and will donate I am beyond grateful. Together we are making a real impact and saving lives! It’s amazing that as a vegan community we can build something so amazing and connect with each other from all over the world for one common good. Sending nothing but good vibes love and gratitude for every single one of you! Let’s do this!

You can see how intently he looks at the screen when he is helping me work❤️ Dax is the absolute sweetest boy ever! He goes pretty much everywhere with me now & doesn’t leave my side, I wouldn’t have it any other way. He was a rescue from the hurricane Maria tragedy in Puerto Rico and I couldn’t be more blessed to have him in my life. Thanks to donations you’re like yours these rescues are possible & I couldn’t be more grateful for all of you❤️

#Compassion is #strength❤️There is a huge misconception in today’s society when it comes to the meaning of strength especially as it pertains to #masculinity.
I’ll tell you what strength is...... Strength is refraining from anger and violence while still being a voice for those who suffer in silence. It’s having the courage do what’s right regardless of what’s socially acceptable, even if it means leaving your comfort zone and questioning everything you’ve been conditioned to believe as well as those who taught you these beliefs. Plain and simple Strength is doing for others while expecting nothing in return because it is the right thing to do. When it comes to #veganism you can consider it your rent for living on this planet that we all share. It’s not too late, we can make a difference, we can save lives, we can make this world a better place than the one we were born into. If you are not yet Vegan please, take the time to google #factoryfarming & watch @earthlingsfilm, @cowspiracy & @racingextinction for starters. Trust me, doing this will be a game changer for you.
.
These words I share do not come from some happy go lucky tree hugging hippie idealist who grew up Vegan/vegetarian. No, these are the words of a man who much like the animals he protects suffered in silence. I know what it’s like to be the victim of extreme violence, to be stabbed, beaten and made a victim. I know what it is to be locked in a cage, I know what it is to to be torn from my parents & my family. I know all too well this horror and after becoming #vegan over 5 years ago I made a promise to myself that I would never be a victim again nor would I ever standby silently and watch another being become one. My whole life I had to fight to survive and I will spend the rest of my life doing the same for others! #GoVegan
