Remembering Ryan Moriarty

Don protégé
This page is in response to so many who have asked if they could make a contribution in memory of our youngest son, Ryan Bode Moriarty, who died in Olympia, Washington on June 8, 2018. We are bereft. This page provides a means to give a gift in Ryan’s memory, which will be donated to the Amherst Regional High School art department and library, with gratitude for the support that was offered to Ryan throughout his K-12 school years in the Amherst Elementary and Amherst Regional Public Schools.

Ryan was born, June 19, 1984. Ryan was a music aficionado, a prolific visual artist, and a mathematical wizard. He played several string instruments, wrote and arranged compositions for jazz, folk and symphonic pieces, and was and avid music listener and analyst. Ryan was a product of Amherst, Massachusetts K-12Public Schools. He graduated from Amherst Regional High School in 2002 and went on to graduate from Evergreen College, in Olympia, WA, where Professor Terry Setter was an inspiration to his focus on music composition, theory, sound experimentation and audio technology. From his K-12 school years, Ryan frequently named two high school teachers in his life as transformative: Mr. Jim Logan and Ms. Sara Barber-Just. He reminisced fondly of his middle school teachers, Mr. Rob Lord and Ms. Margarita Bonifaz for understanding him. He never forgot the loving guidance that Mr. Paul Wiley provided throughout his Crocker Farm Elementary School years. Ryan forever looked up to his older brother “Bobby,” Robert F. W. Moriarty in all things music, Star Wars, comedy, political debates, literature and life. Ryan forged a deep bond with his foster brother Keo Bun with whom he shared the pursuit of mastery in ceramic arts, appreciation of multi-world of visual arts, and played many long hours of card games, music and miniature golf in their teenage years. He was passionately appreciative of his dozens of aunts, uncles and cousins in our over-crowded, chaotic Irish-American families on both sides of his heritage. He held deep love for his Nana and Grampy Moriarty who he leaves behind. He now joins his GrandMa and GrandPa Bode in this spiritual world.  This page provides a means to give a gift, which will be donated to the Amherst Regional High School art department and library, with gratitude for the support that was offered to Ryan throughout his K-12 school years in the Amherst Elementary and Amherst Regional Public Schools.
