Remembering Adam Fisher

My father, Adam Fisher, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning on Friday, February 19, 2021. He will be missed dearly.
Born in New York in 1940, my father had seen a lot of things in his life. From the worst that humanity has to offer, to seeing men step on the moon. Through a lifetime that I have only been able to study in the history books, he lived through and got to experience first hand.
My father lived an interesting life, from being a translator for the US Army, stationed in Germany, to owning his own business as a housepainter, and finally finding his passion of editing for the newspaper.
His passions also lay in the Buddhist community. Creating the Black Moon Zendo and having people come to our house to practice meditation. As a child I never understood why these strangers would come to my house to practice with my dad, the regular guy.
As an adult, I realize that he provided a place for people to learn, grow, and become a part of the religion that helped shape him throughout his lifetime. He was a great man for that, among other things.
Adam always had such passion and vigor for the press and whenever he spoke to me about it, I could always sense it held a special place in his heart.
He was always a great story teller, never afraid to pad out the story with every minute detail.
We are going to remember how a 5 minute story could turn into a 40 minute story, how he pronounced Volkswagon because of his German speaking training (vokes-vahgen), and many other quirks that made Adam, Adam.
This GoFundMe will be used to help cover our prepaid funeral home related expenses. Adam will be cremated and have his ashes spread at a location he wanted to be.
