What Happened

On 1/3/2018, my oldest son Jayson suffered the most devastating heartbreak of his entire life, he lost his father to a sudden and unexpected violent death. No child should ever have to endure the emotional pain that it is to lose a parent and especially not under the tragic circumstances such as this. Anyone who knew my ex-husband also knew that he and our son had a powerful and loving bond and that he was an amazing father, which makes the incident even more difficult to understand. While there are still many unanswered questions, the one thing that is certain is that my precious child is now without his dad. I am desperately trying to do everything possible to ensure he can grieve and heal in a healthy way, how he wants and needs to, while also maintaining as much routine and normalcy as I can. A huge part of this is the need to move back to our hometown of Ramona so Jayson can return to his current high school (where he is a freshman), his huge support group of close friends, and his extended family members.

What’s Needed

Since I am now a single mother of two with sudden added expenses, it will likely take several months to save enough funds to relocate and for my son’s emotional and mental well-being, we need to accomplish this goal right away. The funding needed is to secure an apartment rental (first and last months’ rent, plus deposit), to cover the moving expenses (moving truck and supplies), to provide an additional 1-2 months of rent to be saved as a financial cushion while I secure new employment, and to cover some essentials or traveling costs.

Based on the rates of the ten different rental properties I recently visited, the monthly rent for a two-bedroom apartment is $1200-1300 (not including utilities), with an average deposit of $1000. Moving costs are expected to be about $200 per a U-Haul quote. My goal of $8000 will be enough to cover the costs of four months’ rent and utilities, a deposit, a moving truck, and some necessities expected once moved (household supplies and groceries).

When it’s Needed

Our hope is to achieve this goal within the next 2-3 weeks, because Jayson would love to return to school by mid-February if possible. I am truly grateful that my son has such a tremendous amount of love and support from his peers and for the compassion and understanding that has been offered to us by the community and the staff at Ramona High. Jayson receives communication from many friends throughout each day who can’t wait for him to return and who are there for him when he needs to talk or hang out, and he wants to get back to seeing them every day and to make it as close to the way it used to be as we can, despite the unfortunate circumstances we’ve been faced with.

Thank You…

With your help, we can make this happen and reunite my son with the friends he needs right now to make sure he’s in the best possible positive and therapeutic environment needed for his healing process.
I thank each and every one of you in advance, from the bottom of my heart. This is the most difficult experience of our lives and I can’t even express how deeply appreciative I am for all of you who have been, or will be, there for us in this journey. One love.
