Neuro-Spine Surgery and Recovery

Hi my name is Wiebke and I am a 39 year old High Performance Coach and Rehab Specialist. For the past 15 years I have worked with pro athletes all over the world from the NBA, NFL, Euroleague, BBL, CBA, etc...  With the likes of Jared Dudley, Sebastian Telfair, CJ Watson, Rudy Gay, Jason Terry, Al Harrington, Derek Fisher, Ryan Hollins, Doron Perkins, D'or Fischer, Omar Samhan, Tremmell Darden, Jason Boone, DeMarcus Nelson, Cedrick Jackson and the list goes on.

All of my passion goes into my work by helping these athletes. Whether it be reaching their peak performance level or helping rehabilitate them after they've suffered from an injury.

As you can see, I'm normally the one who helps others with serious injuries, but never thought I would find myself in their shoes until now.  Recently in September, I was involved in a severe car accident and suffered major lumbar spine trauma. It left me not only unable to work and care for these athletes, but unable to walk, bathe, and care for myself without extreme pain and the use of a walker, (I call it my Ferrari).

All jokes aside, anyone that has been in my shoes knows that insurance only covers so much.  Even with the other driver being at fault, the other driver unfortunately only had minimal insurance coverage. We are in the process of settling, but it will take quite some time and current treatments and medications have already exceeded her auto insurance coverage by $55,000+. I have exhausted all of my finances while doctors have ran out of treatment options and the last hope is to have major neuro-spine surgery due to severity of nerve damage. The surgeon highly recommends that I have this surgery done as soon as possible to avoid irreversible damage.

Ongoing day to day bills combined with medical expenses, the cost of the upcoming surgery, medications, and post-surgical rehabilitation have left me no other choice but to reach out to family, friends, and even strangers to ask for help. The neuro-spine surgery, hospital care, and doctor follow-ups alone cost $410,000 and that’s if all goes well. Then physical therapy, home care, special home equipment (wheelchair, braces, etc), and medications are estimated to cost over $100,000.

Some people want new toys, new cars, or even a diamond necklace for Christmas. With your help, the surgeon is willing to operate on Christmas day and there is no better gift I could ask for than that.  I would be beyond thankful and grateful to all who can find it their hearts to pledge a donation.

After being in this situation I realized how helpless and desperate a person can be because of unlucky circumstances. I also realized that there is a desperate need for more help than situations like this systematically allow.  After my road to recovery, I would like to show how much I understand and just how thankful I am by donating my rehabilitation and strengthening programs completely free of charge to victims confronted with similar misfortunate situations.
