Reggie's Life Saving Operation
Our rescued Guinea Pig, Reggie, is two years old. He is our best friend, and helps us to manage our own anxieties and issues.
He has a genetic condition that causes his teeth to not just grow outwards but also inwards, into his jaw. This is extremely painful and will eventually break his jaw. It causes pain where he cannot eat. This is called elongated roots.
On a trip to the Vets.
Despite being insured since the very first day we brought him home (we are responsible pet owners with a love for pets- Lauren has raised over 200 pound for the RSPCA guineapig rescue in Walsall,) we have spent around 500 GBP.
We are both self employed and prioritise our little friend.
He requires surgery to remove his lower set of teeth, check underlying problems, and sort this issue out. It will cost around 1500 GBP.
After this he will require regular root canals on his top set of teeth to clear the roots that grow there. Removing the lower teeth provides space for his teeth to grow and will relieve his pain. We can afford these. He eats specialist food fed by hand in order to maintain his weight and insure he will be okay for his op. He is on tramodol, and some other medication to help him. These weekly costs are alleviated a little by his insurance and so are his check ups.
Lauren is looking for a second job for future vet bills.
