musical theatre now. " Really? Guess Again.
Two years ago, a group of tweens got together for a week-long, summer Writer's Workshop. Fast forward to today, and we have an original, full length, uplifting and poignant musical about friendship, love and getting ready to move on to what life has to offer.
This story and all of the characters in it were created by a core group of writers, who now range in age from 10-13, and who have worked for 2 years in various capacities via workshops and readings to develop the script and plot and begin work on the music.
We originally decided to create our own project after so many of the PCI tweens and teens kept hearing "Sorry, but there is no work for you in musical theatre now. You are too old to be Matilda and too young for Les Mis. Come back when you're 18."
Reddi High is a musical about being in transition, learning who you really are and going for what you want regardless of what people think. It is fun, quirky, heartfelt and intelligent with seriously good music that is going to make a brilliant Soundtrack.
Reddi High will be produced in Manhattan by Procida Creative International and all of the marketing and production aspects will be carried out by students between the ages of 10 and 17 . PCI bases it's education on sustainability, teaching kids how to mine their own income by creating their own work and using their personal skills to further their artistic careers.
Please join us in bringing this project to fruition at an off, off Broadway theatre in New York City, where the kids can forever say "I wrote, produced and performed in the World Premiere of an original musical in New York City. I was 12."
