Red listed insect photo exhibition

Hi folks, I’m here to ask for a small donation to finance my photography exhibition, taking place from November 2018 until March 2019, at Manchester Museum. My name is Martin Wilson and I am currently studying photography at University Centre Blackburn College (accredited by Lancaster University). Working in conjunction with the entomologists at Manchester Museum I have been able to create a series of high-quality macro photographs of insects that appear on the UK IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. These images highlight the phenomenal beauty and intricacy of these species and are vital to raising awareness of their conservation status. This is something I am truly passionate about. As a father, I am committed to working with conservation organisations to ensure my children, and future generations, are aware of how important these species are to our ecosystem and how devastating their loss would be.

Whilst Manchester Museum has been extremely supportive and has freely offered the exhibition space, I will be required to self-fund the exhibition, as a student this is a very daunting prospect. The cost of printing, framing and promoting this exhibition will run to thousands of pounds and whilst I am in the process of applying for some financial support from conservation agencies, as charitable bodies anything they can offer will be very limited.

This exhibition is a fantastic opportunity, both in terms of my career and to raise much-needed awareness of the UK IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
