Recovery Fund for Mandy and her son

In the early morning hours of Thursday, June 21st, my friend Mandy Valencia was brutally attacked while she was sleeping in her home by her ex-boyfriend.
She was attacked with a rubber mallet with a metal hook on the end, and endured a horrible assault that lasted for over 15 minutes. Mandy has many wounds to her head, and body, from being hit over and over again with a hammer and his fists. She was choked, and she nearly had her ear torn completely off by the claw end of the mallet. She has suffered many, many wounds to her whole body, and of course the mental and emotional trauma of being attacked by her son's father.
Although her 3 year old son was not in her home at the time, he was left alone at the father's house while he came and attacked Mandy, and then he proceeded to use their 3 year old son for a human shield in the subsequent stand-off with police before he was finally taken into custody.
Mandy's beautiful young boy will be recovering from this emotional trauma for quite some time. I am choosing to not share too much about him here to protect him as much as I can.
Mandy is also a very recent breast cancer survivor, and is still in the process of healing from that journey.
With her permission, I have created this GoFundMe Fundraiser to support Mandy and her son in their recovery.
With this horrific attack and trauma also comes the loss of wages, and fiscal child-support. My wish is that our community can come together to support Mandy so she can continue in her recovery from cancer, and also have some time and space to heal her body and soul from this awful and tragic incident.
Mandy is an amazing and loving mother, a brilliant writer, a community advocate for people of color, a kind and compassionate friend I would wish for anyone, and a strong and fierce woman who fought hard for her life.
I will be grateful to all who will help me support Mandy and her and her son in this difficult time, and process of recovery from domestic violence.
