Support the First Baptist Church
This GoFundMe page is dedicated to supporting the First Baptist Church in the aftermath of the fire.
As many have heard, a beloved Wakefield landmark was struck by lightning Tuesday night. Not only is this an historic building and a beautiful part of our town’s charm, but this has been a place of worship for more than 100 years. As the former pastor’s daughter and having grown up running through the halls, discovering secret hiding spots in the church, it breaks my heart that what I’ve considered a second home has burned down in the blink of an eye. But having been raised in the First Baptist Church Of Wakefield, Massachusetts, I have also been taught that:
“The church is not a building;
the church is not a steeple;
the church is not a resting place;
the church is a people.
I am the church! You are the church!
We are the church together!
All who follow Jesus,
all around the world!
Yes, we're the church together!“
Yes, the former “Tall Spire” building is a skeleton of what it once was, but the church is still alive and working in our community. The building itself has also been home to the Tall Spire nursery school as well as host to other various groups over the years. Please support our church as we continue to worship, teach, learn, serve, love, and grow in our community. Please join our church family in our mission to bring God’s light to the world around us. Thank you for your love and support and may God bless each and every one of you.
“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
We’re almost at $17,000 that’s been raised for the church through this page and we’re so thankful for every person who’s contributed. Just a reminder that the church service is being held this morning at the First Parish Congregational Church at 10:15. Please enter through the front of the building and ushers will be there to assist you. All are welcome to join
We hit the $15,000 mark-in just three days! Amazing! The outpouring of support from the community, friends, and family from near and far has been wonderfully reassuring. We are not in this alone and God is making that shown to us. As the donations keep coming in I would like to continue to thank all of you for your financial contributions as well as the kind words and sweet memories you’ve shared. Feel free to leave comments with what the First Baptist Church has meant to you. ❤️
God has reasons for what he does that are not always understood by us. I already see a community coming together with love and care for each other, I see people talking about God and sharing their beliefs, I see strength and faith. These things alone show me how God is working his amazing plan through the tragic loss of this beautiful building. Please refrain from posting negative comments here. Thank you to all who are showing their support.
Another huge thank you to all who have donated and shared this campaign with others. As the church building was torn down last night we are left with the rubble containing countless memories that span several generations. But the church family is keeping positive that this will not be the end of The First Baptist Church of Wakefield. The congregation will continue on through the upcoming uncertainty and keep God’s Word alive. Thank you again for the outpouring of love and support.
