Donate to rebuild Manhattan's friendly local game store.  #MhkFlood2018

Goblin Games  opened in Manhattan, KS in January 2015, with a tiny space, a few tables, and one shelving unit to display games. Over the last three and a half years we tripled in size and were still short on space on some Fridays, and we know the devoted local community is the reason we thrived.
On Labor Day, Sept 2nd, we lost everything.
Wildcat Creek flooded, and in a matter of minutes there was over 6 feet of mud and water inside our store. It is a total loss. We did not have a flood insurance policy. We will not be recieving any insurance compensation at all.

Despite the loss, we will start again. We love Manhattan. We love this community.

The Goblin Family is bigger than we can support starting from scratch again, so it is with heavy hearts that we ask for your help.
We have many ideas on what we want in a new store, and would love input on what you need too.

Manhattan Town Center has graciously offered us a temporary home in the mall that should be operational very soon.

We set the goal at 20,000 because that is about what we started with the first time around. We don't know where our permanent home will be yet, so how much funding we'll ultimately need depends on you. What do you need in your game store?

If you have any words of encouragement or suggestions, leave a comment here or message our Facebook page.

Hello, everyone!

The question we get most right now: “Have you found a permanent location yet?”
Short answer: no, not yet.
Vague answer: We are negotiating! But it is too early to know if this back-and-forth will result in a new base of operations, so we are withholding any announcements until we are certain it is a feasible location. In any case, a new spot for us will take lots of planning and remodeling, so we can expect to continue to operate out of Manhattan Town Center for awhile. The mall has been incredibly accommodating and already provided us some new opportunities to engage with the community (for example, the USO No Dough Dinner), which is great for those warm and fuzzy feelings, and we are thankful.

Things to note:
All donated funds (whether cash or through GoFundMe) is earmarked for the build-out of a new place. Some examples of what these funds will go toward…
Walls and Floors.
Places with a large enough footprint (we need somewhere between 3500 and 5000+ square feet) are broken up into a myriad of offices and back rooms and hallways and kitchens, none of which make sense for a hobby shop.
Air Conditioning. Air Conditioning. Air Conditioning.
Game tables and seating with all the bells and whistles
A/V equipment for music, twitch streaming, etc. (and if we are really fancy, sound damping?)
Other nice things

Money we already had in the bank at the time of the flood was spent first on basic tables and chairs to play on, then board games and Magic: The Gathering collections for us to sell. Money from your purchases since has gradually been populating our mall location with things like shelves and display fixtures. And more games, of course.

Questions, Comments, Ideas, Concerns… You can always e-mail us, comment here, talk to us. We’re in this together.

This community is made up of 100% the best nerds on the planet. November 10th, at Sisters of Sound Records in Aggieville, let us come together and celebrate. With music. And baked goods. And friendship.

(PS. anyone interested in baking treats for the bake sale is welcome, refer to the event for details).
