Weaving represents a crossing of art and utility. Fabric can be beautiful, and strong, and the ability to create it was once commonplace. But modern weaving equipment is prohibitively expensive, taking the power to create away from the average person.
I seek to remedy that, with a line of inexpensive looms, called the Rebel Looms. Sacrificing aesthetics for utility, Rebel Looms aren't works of art, but you can create works of art with them.
Your donations will go towards tools and materials to build prototypes of these looms. I eventually hope to publish plans for them, so that anyone with a modicum of woodworking skill can have a functional loom for a fraction of the cost. I would also like to build looms for those who can't or don't want to do the building themselves, but still want a cheap and usable loom.
