Rebecca,House Fire & loss of mother

Donation protected
On Saturday, March 11, 2017, 15-year-old Rebecca, my niece, was involved in a terrible house fire that claimed the life of her mom.

Rebecca and her stepfather were in the hospital fighting for their lives for almost two weeks. They woke to learn that they had lost a mother and a wife. Their strength through this has helped us all continue to be strong.

We hope that this fundraiser will help cover the costs of Patricia's burial and medical bills, Rebecca's medical bills and any help Patricia's children may need in coping with the loss of their mother. We also hope to use any left over funds as a scholarship fund for her four children.
Full Story:
Rebeccca was visiting her mother and stepfather after the death of a her great-grandmother 3 days before.
Shortly after they fell asleep at 11 p.m. their house caught fire. Two roommates were able to escape with one of their dogs while Rebecca, Patricia and Tom slept. The neighbors attempted to wake them by hitting the window but the fire became too strong. As they tried to escape the room, the smoke overcame them and they lost consciousness due to smoke inhalation.

Thanks to the bravery of the Orange and Garden Grove Fire Departments all three were pulled from house and rushed to local hospitals. Rebecca and Tom spent two weeks in the hospital recovering from their injuries while Patricia fought for her life at the UCI Trauma and Burn Center. Although the doctors did all they could, as well as the paramedics at the scene, Patricia was deprived of oxygen for more than 20 minutes and she succumbed to her injuries. Patricia passed away on Sunday March 12th.

The fire also lead to the death of the family's beloved pets including three dogs and five cats .

Rebecca was in an induced coma for nine days. When she awoke, the pain of telling her that her mother didn't make it was heartbreaking. Patricia was also taken away from her three other children ages 8, 10 and 16.

In this time of tragedy Tom, Rebecca and the other children, who live out of state, are dealing with the loss of Patricia who was only 37 years old. Rebecca, who already deals with autism, is struggling with the loss of her mother.

Patricia's husband Tom also has a fundraiser page started by his family:
