Social Studies Class trip

The purpose of my request is to help my students in the Poughkeepsie Middle School cover a portion of the cost of the round trip bus transportation to the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City.  We are a Title I school and 100% of our students receive free lunch.  

Let me tell you about us and what this trip has meant to my students in the past!
Excellence has always been our goal despite many of the hardships our students face daily.  Our students want to become motivated, life-long learners in our global society.    It is for this reason that my team of teachers and I would like to bring our students to the Museum of Jewish Heritage.  Students who were able to experience this trip last year wrote the following:
"This experience gave me a deeper understanding of life during the Holocaust."
"It made me think about how the Holocaust took away everything that a person was, and dehumanized them."
"There were many heroes of the Holocaust and it was inspiring to see how many groups took a stand"
"The trip to the Museum of Jewish Heritage brought out my emotions by seeing things like the Nazi flag, board games given to children to brainwash them against the Jews and the blood stain on the striped uniforms of one of the victims of the Holocaust."

I know with your help my students will have a life changing experience!
The students will make connections and critically think about how such an event could happen and what they can do to prevent it from happening again.  Students will be able to appreciate people who fought against such hatred and sympathize with the victims of a wide-spread form of bullying and intolerance.
