Ray Browning Family Support Fund

$21,506 of $20,000 goal

Raised by 294 people in 31 months
Ray Browning was tragically killed in an armed robbery in a restuarant in front of his wife and 8 year old son. He interceded the masked gunmen and was shot in the heart and died instantly. The perpetrators are still at large, but hopefully they will be identified and apprehended soon.

Ray was a faithful and dependable Phonoscope employee for about 27 years. He also served our country in the United States Marine Corps.  His wife said, "He was a good man."  This is often said, but in Ray's case, it is so very, very true. Precious few have consistently upheld such an honorable, respectful, and trustworthy standard. He had a very infectious smile that was uniquely Ray. He also never stopped being a marine. Up to the last, Ray was protecting and serving.

This campaign was setup by Phonoscope, Ray's employer in Houston, Texas. The funds are being raised to help his wife and son cover the funeral costs and other expenses of daily living while they adjust to life without Ray.  When the campaign is complete, all funds raised, minus the GoFundMe fees, will be withdrawn by Phonoscope LIGHTWAVE and placed in an account especially setup for these funds to be given to his wife.

Houston lost a good man last night and I lost a dear friend. His family has asked not to release his identity as there are family members not yet notified. While having a quiet family New Year's evening dinner with his family, in a small Vietnamese diner in S.W. Houston, a robbery occurred. The pair of bandits were robbing the patrons when my friend, a former Marine and Tai Quan Do black belt acted to defend his family. During the ensuing scuffle he was shot and killed. He leaves a wife who is fairly new to America and a 7 year old son. Without question he was the best man I have ever walked beside. We can do nothing for him now. But, his wife and child must go on without him to support and care for them. Please stay advised with this story in the news and help bring these predators to their deserved reward. Meanwhile, thoughts and prayers for his wife and son may provide some comfort.

There is so much injustice in this world, that you are bound to come up against it, and when you do, that will be your fight. It will then be up to you, as to whether you decide to fight, for good (God) against injustice (evil-Devil), and, by winning, help to make the world a better place, for yourself and everyone to live in, or to surrender to, and suffer from the injustice, thereby allowing it to continue and grow, making the world even more evil and unjust, for yourself, and everyone else to have to live in, and suffer from. All that is necessary for evil to triumph, is, for those who want to be good, to do nothing to stop it. --- JAH

This just breaks my heart. I grew up Luton Park Drive and now my mother lives there. We moved there in the early 80s. I have been long gone from the neighborhood but I'm always back to visit the family home. Herman would always wave to me during my visits. As I sit here on my mom's couch tonight I'm hearing a story of how he would help my mother with some yard duties. So sorry for loss. This is tragic.
